Just wondering if anyone has done an iOS5 update today and is continuing to use MobileMe for syncing, not iCloud? I want to install iOS5 on my iPad and iPhone but have to stay with Snow Leopard for compatibility with older software and hardware.

Doing lots of searches but just not getting any clear answers as to whether I can continue on letting MobileMe keep my MBP and iDevices in sync (calendars and contacts mostly).

Has anyone tried and is it working correctly?

I have upgraded all my devices to IOS5 and the new version of Lion but I have not activated iCloud, so things are still syncing fine with MobileMe. I am not real sure how to activate iCloud since I have a different MobileMe name and iTunes AppleID. So, until I understand this, I will wait and keep using MobileMe. It still is working for me.

Given your desktop issues, you are correct in not moving to iCloud yet. But realize Apple will migrate all ME accounts to iCloud so not sure what that means for SL. They are supposedly doing this soon.

In your case, you will need to set up an iCloud account using different credentials then your MM. Either create a new @me address - which can be done during initial iOS 5 setup or use a Gmail or something else. Then go under Mail settings and add your MM account.

Really? Your iDevices and computers are able to sync bookmarks, calendars and contacts across one another via MobileMe without a hitch?

I've been using MobileMe since June 2009. Never had an issue till today with syncing this information. Since today nothing stays in sync.

I've even had the iOS 5 GM since release (register dev here!). Prior to today contacts, calendars and bookmarks synced just dandy. Now they don't. I tried removing my .me account from my iPhone and re-adding it. I was able to do so, but it has yet to sync any of this data (so now my contacts are gone from the phone).

MobileMe services are supposed to be good through June 30th 2012. So far, not so good.

The core services provided by MobileMe have been rewritten to work seamlessly with iCloud. MobileMe will no longer be available as a paid sync service. If you had an active MobileMe account as of June 6, 2011, your service has been extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After that date, the MobileMe service will no longer be available.

I think MobileMe is having some issues right now. I deleted my MobileMe account off of my iPhone and told it to delete the associated content assuming everything i wanted would be migrated to iCloud (mainly contacts and bookmarks). Once I went on my computer to migrate my MobileMe account I noticed that it told be to make sure I had my contacts and bookmarks on one of my devices (these would not be automatically migrated to iCloud). So I stopped the migration and went to sync my contacts and bookmarks with my iPhone again by adding my MobileMe account back on. Since then my contacts and bookmarks are not pushing to my iPhone now. I logged into MobileMe and can see my contacts there still so they do not appear to be lost.

Also, I have multiple MobileMe accounts, when I tried to migrate a different one after that it said that it could not be completed due to too many requests (apples servers are cumbling).

Anyhow, that's my story.

Mobile Me is still fully functional on iOS5 if .... YOU DID NOT transfer your @me login to iCloud.

If you already transferred to iCloud ....... you will ONLY have access to MobileMe Gallery & iDisk. You will only see these two icons on the browser login. You can still use the Gallery & iDisk app in iOS5 for now.

I upgraded my iPod Touch to IOS 5 today; have not migrated MobileMe yet.
My Snow Leopard iMac, MacBook, and IOS 4.3 iPad continue to sync contacts flawlessly using MobileMe. But I can not get the IOS 5 iPod to sync contacts.
I defaulted the iPod before the upgrade, so now I have no contacts in the iPod address book. This is a bummer.

No iOS5 syncing with MobileMe...

I'm in the same boat. Have NOT migrated to iCloud... everything still syncs, EXCEPT the one device I have upgrade to iOS5.

My main hurdle in going to iCloud is the lack of SL support. I mean c'mon, how hard can it be to keep sync services running? My whole house is connected via MobileMe... now it's broken!

Further... I am not in control of my work MBP. And my company isn't moving to Lion any time soon. So now I am screwed trying to keep contact in sync! For the first time in years, I am truly pissed at Apple.

Hmm. So it's just an iOS5 failure? This is really strange because MobileMe syncing was all well and good as recent as iOS5 beta 7 and GM. It's only been since the unleashing of iCloud yesterday that the proverbial poop has hit the fan.

MobileMe and iOS5

No luck. I am using an iPhone 3gs and iCloud commandeered it. I deleted the iCloud account on the phone and the MobileMe sync worked immediately. I too have not yet updated my MacBook to Lion so I can't use iCloud on the laptop. I will revisit the situation when my MobileMe expires.

So what's the general consensus? I'm in the same boat as the original poster but I'm having a hard time determining if people are able to sync normally via MobileMe (not iCloud) using a mixture of devices with Snow Leopard, iOS 4, and iOS 5.

Deleted items re-appearing?

Hi.

Moved to iOS5 for iphone 3Gs. Signed in with MobieMe. Next day, upon plugging in to charge & sync, many conflicts or "modifying more than 5% of ...." messages Some were easy to resolve, others were skipped for later.

Upon initial iOS5 set-up, noticed contacts had about 70 blank entries (out of 1200 or so contacts). Deleted these on the iphone. Found them also in contacts on imac, so deleted them there, too. Tonight, message said more than 5% modified contacts when syncing 3gS — so chose sync later, logged into mobileme account. Sure enough, about 70 blank no-name contacts, so deleted them in mobileme, also.

But bigger problem is with bookmarks. Many months ago, an Xmarks bookmark sync bug resulted in dozens of duplicate bookmarks (in Firefox, then synced to safari, across both imac and powerbook). As xMarks stopped syncing, apparently overwhelmed with so many duplicates, one chose decided to delete most all the duplicates (about 1200). Voila, this fixed the sync problem, so could have same bookmarks again in both firefox & safari on both imac and powerbook. Sweet!

Tonight, somehow all those old duplicate bookmarks were still on mobileme (perhaps I'd shutoff syncing to mbileme and forgot for many months? Now, mobileme wants to reload these old duplicates back on my iphone, which certainly do not want mobileme to do.

How to locate mobileme bookmarks and delete them, so mobileme reloads bookmarks from either the imac or iphone? Same for dock items, as mobileme also wants to sync several old dock items back into the imac doc.

Incidentally, had problems with 3gs on iOS4 with many repeating calendar entries duplicated. Some would not even be deletable!

On iOS5, noticed a few, though far fewer than before (best guess perhaps 90% of duplicate repeating entries) now are fixed (gone), so apparently apple put some effort to eliminate calendar duplicate entries upon upgrading to iOS5??? Appreciate that!

I was having a terrible time with syncs from my iPhone (iOS 5) to my laptop (Snow Leopard). I had just purchased an app to take pictures of business cards and do OCR to populate the address book fields on my iPhone, and wanted to clean them up on my laptop. I have everything set to MobileMe sync, and nothing was transferring. Then I plugged in the cable, did one sync through iTunes, and after that, everything seems to be syncing just fine wirelessly. Total weirdness that I note here for anyone who wants to give this strategy a shot.

Since upgrading iPhone to IOS5...contact and bookmarks do not work on the MobileMe sync. With everything configured they were both blank on my phone. I did an initial sync with Itunes and noticed in the info section that "sync contacts & bookmarks" was checked which normally wasn't (5 years). All my contacts and bookmarks appeared but wanted to see if it was those checkboxes were affecting it...and it was. unchecked them and contacts and bookmarks went away. All my MobileMe account info on the phone was setup correctly..but still not syncing. mbpro (SL) and Ipad (ios4) both are working perfectly with MobileMe and syncing correctly. Need to make sure photoshop plugins all work on Lion before i can move to icloud. I'm also curious to keeping my @me account because i use it for business.
