I want to trade in my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 at Apple but they are still not in stock fully at my Apple store. I worry about the trade in amount being lowered, by the time they actually make it in stock and I would rather not send my iPad in now because then I would be without an iPad for who knows how long.

So.. has anyone had some luck grabbing the 12.9 in the Apple Store?

I was able to get one on May 26th at my local Apple Store in Southern California--maybe I got lucky. Keep checking. It was available for in store pickup but not delivery at that time.

I initially ordered an IPad Pro online. Delivery was late July, early August. I kept checking in the Apple app and it came available in a store near me. I canceled my other order and got that one. Less than 10 minutes later, they were no longer available online for in store pick up. You have to keep checking. Also, I ordered from the Apple education store. Each order comes with free iPods or $90 for AirPod pros.

The stores in my area would get 12.9 iPP inventory on Tuesdays/Wednesdays. I grabbed my current one last Wednesday and haven't really checked since but this pattern was consistent every week since launch. The exact time varied between 11AM and ~2PM so I recommend checking the apple store app around then

I’ve been keeping an eye on my local store as well; it‘s hit and miss, though it looks like my ideal configuration is now in the store.

I know its convenient OP, but you’re seriously getting ripped off with the trade in. You could sell it and get at least double the amount they are offering, most likely more.

When I got mine a while back, the Apple website said it was unavailable at the local store but the Apple Store app said it was. I ordered through the app and picked it up the next day.

You think? I have a 2018 12.9 64GB Wi-Fi model… they were offering $540 I believe last I checked…

Yes, they increased the iPad trade-in amounts late last year, and $540 is pretty good. I traded in the same model with Apple for that amount last December. You can do a trade-in comparison at CashForYourMac.com; you’ll get a live quote without the company having to email you back.

I have noticed Target.com has been getting stock routinely, if you have the app you can even select to be notified when they restock and typically delivery is within a week, same with Best Buy. Looking at BB right now you can order a 12.9 iPad Pro with delivery by Tues June 29 or in store pickup July 1. Target currently has some available with July 1st delivery.

I got lucky and last weekend BB had in store availability and I was able to do a buy online pick up in store for same day. I also lucked out because the Magic Keyboard was on sale at BB for $199 ($150 off).

Don't rely entirely on Apple's website store inventory. It may not reflect stock that is actually in store.

Last summer, when Pros had 3-4 week lead times for shipping online orders, I stumbled into a store and walked out with one without any wait.

wasn’t this for the older generation?
It’s a 3rd gen Magic Keyboard and it works and fits just fine with the M1 iPad Pro. It looks like that sale is still going on, I had really wanted the white keyboard but for this price I will be just fine with a 3rd gen model.

Though compatible with the 3rd gen, it was actually released and designed for the 4th gen model. You wouldn't want one designed for the 3rd gen - believe me, you wouldn't be 'just fine' at all, it'd fall off.

I kept checking daily. There are plenty of 11" iPad Pros available, but not 12.9" iPad Pros.

Works with 2018-2021 models to help clarify

They pop up for 2-hour delivery/pickup pretty often. You just need to check the online store every few hours or so.

I ordered one online on Tuesday for pick up on Wednesday this week. It was a 1tb WiFi 12.9.
