Phones Any Lumia 820 owners?

I currently have a Galaxy S3 and a Nexus 4. I'm thinking of selling the S3 and getting a Lumia 820. I'd probably have to pay a bit extra because my S3 has a few dents on it and I don't know how much it'll sell for.

Anyway, what do you think of the phone? I'm worried it'll be too thick and heavy for me (which is why I'm definitely not going for the 920). Going from the S3 to the Nexus 4 I could definitely feel the increase in thickness and weight and the 820 is even thicker and heavier than the Nexus 4. I'm also worried about battery life seeing as it's only 1650 mAh but it's replaceable so that should mitigate the issue a bit.

This will be my first Windows phone. I'm not so worried about not liking the OS because I've wanted to try it out and I guess now's the right time. If I don't I'll just sell it and go back to my Nexus 4.

Edit: forgot to mention that carriers here aren't selling it yet so I can't go into a store to even try it out.

Last line in my post explains that carriers here haven't started selling it and I don't know any other stores that have it.

The display's not retina and I thought the camera was pretty poor for a device from 2012 (especially since Nokia's always praising the Carl Zeiss Optics and what not). Also, the hardware buttons weren't very nice to press - all in all it just felt like a cheap product.

I don't think it's worth the money at all.

I just came back from the store and I decided to go with that. It made more sense because of the better specs and at the same price plus I actually got to try the 8X. Can't wait to open it up and start using it

I've recently switched from ios ( had iPhones since they came out). Its a bit of a change but so far in enjoying it.

Maybe it's because of the first few cycles or I have too many things turned on? I've turned off location services so I'm not sure what could be causing a huge drain. I have 2 emails setup for push but it's the same on every phone I've used. I've been using it lightly-moderately despite it being a new phone because I've been busy since I got it. Could the live tiles be causing a huge drain? even when the screen is off?

Check out the battery-saver mode that's been there since WP7.5. Helps alot to save battery by turning off certain settings at lower battery levels.

I saw it but I really don't want to have to use that. I had to charge the phone twice today. It'll help me when I'm in tight situation but I don't want to have to use it that frequently which seems like it would be everyday if it keeps at this rate.

If I had more control over what the power saving mode did like on TouchWiz which I used only to underclock the phone (without turning off haptic and brightness etc). I don't want it to turn off my email syncing. I'm really not doing much with this phone. There aren't that many apps to mess with as it is and I can't expect it to last me a day with light/moderate while I was a moderate/heavy user on my Nexus 4, GS3 and iPhone 4S that's just BS. To top it off I can't really tell how long the screen has been on

I got the 820 and love it. I had originally got a 920 but it was just too massive. Anyway the 820 isn't super thin like the 8X but it feels very solid and is high quality. It has accidentally flown out of my hand onto tile floor without so much as a scratch. I liked the 8X profile but I could not jive with the colors, lack of storage and lack of Nokia Drive.

The only downside to the 820 is the lower resolution, but the screen is so vivid and rich its not noticeable unless you hold it next to a 920. No regrets at all.

You're making me feel a bit bad now but no I love my 8X so far except for the battery life. Do you mind listing some good apps you use regularly and any tips on getting better battery life.

The Nokia app selection really kicks butt, but I wouldn't feel too bad as the 8X has an awesome physical design. I went back and forth but I need 32GB of storage and really didn't like the colors. Battery life is also not so great on the 820. First thing of course would be to disable bluetooth and NFC. Turn push off on all of your mail (mine are set to 15 minutes), and make sure when you exit an app click the back button not the windows button. If you use the windows button the app will continue running in the background (if it's allowed via settings). Skype won't kill your battery as long as you use the back button to exit.

Some non-Nokia apps I recommend considering:

• Amazon Mobile
• BillMinder
• Evernote
• Flashlight XT (Hands down the coolest flashlight app I've used)
• IMDB
• Netflix
• SkyDrive
• WPCentral (Very polished windows phone news app)
• MetroTube (A lot of people love this one, I'm fine with the plain free one)
• Weather Flow (I use Weather Channel by Nokia but this one is slick)
• WiFi (This let's you put a tile on your homescreen that is a shortcut to the wifi toggle switch)
• Wordament (this is like the pinnacle of word games and it's only on windows phone)
• Words By Post

If you are into unlimited streaming music I also recommend the Xbox music pass. It works really well. The only problem for me is the lack of platform options. It basically only works on our phones, xbox and windows 7/8. Despite that I still subscribe b/c basically you get full access to everything in the music store. It's pretty awesome
