Owner of a MBA 1.0 1.6/80 and waiting shipment for my MBA 2.0 1.86/120hdd. I have heard about how everyone is going nuts over the ssd, seemingly moreso than with the previous MBA. I am curious if anyone has the MBA 2.0 with hdd. If it isn't nearly as good as the ssd, I am thinking about just not opening the one that arrives and swapping it out in store for a ssd. I have had no speed issues with my MBA hdd but I am curious about the new one.

Thanks

If you did not have any speed issues with the 1.6/80 you'll be very happy with the 1.6/120.

The harddrive will be faster due to the higher data density, L2 cache is bigger, memory speed has increased and the GPU is much faster.

Main benefits of SSD are faster booting, faster launching of applications, faster install procedures.

and the most important thing for it being in attached in a notebook is that you can move your notebook freely without being afraid of the hard drive gets damage.

I agree with this to a point, but SSD in notebooks is a very new thing and notebooks have historically survived most day-to-day movement without an SSD.

Though TBH, I was waiting for the 1.6/120 and I'm seriously suddenly feeling inclined to get the SSD one.
