Any MBA owners see this flickering?

I have the late macbook but i'm posting here because I wanna find out if it's the same for you Air people.

The flickering is not apparent but still, I think it's what's causing my headache and eye strain when looking at the macbook for longer periods of time. I tried to raise the refresh rate and it helped a bit but i'm still feeling nauseous and this has never happened before for me. The flickering disappeared when I lowered the resolution but instead it got blurry because I wasn't running native resolution.

I'm using pstubes profile and brightness at 50%.

If the background looks completely fine on the MBA I think I should switch to Air, because I can't have it like this in the long run.

I mean the flickering is there, just hard to detect. It's like you get used to it but when you compare it to a better screen side by side you can see it clearly. I suspect it's the scan rate or just the general inferior quality of the screen that puts a strain on my eyes because when I increased the scan rate from 60Hz to 75Hz it got better. But I still get this disoriented feeling after looking at it for a while, which is a new experience for me.

Oh - OK.

I don't have an MBA so I can't speak to what you are experiencing. I did get the new MB, and I have been using it a lot in different lighting conditions and I have not noticed anything funny after using it.

Our visual field "refreshes" at different rates in different areas. Our peripheral vision is less color acute and more motion acute. You don't care what color the tiger that is rapidly approaching from the left is, you just care that it is a fast tiger.

If you look at the screen from the corner of your eye you may still notice the screen flicker at 75Hz. If so, that may indeed be your problem. You could try out a MBP or MBA screen in-store to see if it is any better -- out f the corner of your eye(a).

I didn't notice any difference when turning my head but I went to an apple store and compared the three screens. the MPB felt good but the Air screen felt even better. The colors just look natural and it was very easy on my eyes, no strain at all.

But the thing is, I've already installed a bunch of programs and don't wanna do that again when I get the Air. Is it possible for me to do a backup with time machine and then put that in on the new Air? That would be great.

It's weird. The flickering on my Macbook is really noticeable, yet it's fine, but if I am anywhere near a flurescant light, I get a migraine.

I think the flickering depends on what brightness setting you are using.

Yeah. What I'm getting at, is that flourescent lights flicker. My LED screen does too, and yet it doesn't seem to be a problem for some strange reason.

I do get flickering with that test pattern, I do not get it on my MBP. With that said, other than that particular pattern I have not seen anything that even remotely resembled a flicker and I've tried many different solid and varied backgrounds. As I resize the test pattern over a pure white background the flickering stays with the test pattern and clears as the white background replaces it. Who knows? I know I will not set the test pattern as my desktop background...
I'm keeping mine...after just playing with my MBP, Safari is so much faster it's not funny. I suddenly noticed the hard drive noise in my MBP, my Air is silent.

On further inspection, the test picture pulses slightly on both a 30 inch ACD and a Dell 2405. I think it's an optical illusion possibly. Regardless, I can't repeat it with any other screenshot.

I do not see it on my 30" ACD. I do get it however, on my macbook air.
