Do you think that we can expect another iPad later this year?

Highly doubtful. iPad Pro just got updated. iPad mini might get updated soon. But how would baseline iPad be updated? It wont be new form factor. It wont have latest chipset (A14 at most), and it wont have better screen and Face ID, otherwise price will go up.

But iPad didn't get major update since 2017.

99.9% probability. I’m not sure which rumors to believe about it, though. Possible redesign, but still with a home button. Laminated display. Either faster processor or more RAM or both.

5th and 6th gen had 2GB RAM, but changed the processor from A9 to A10. 7th and 8th had 3GB RAM, but changed the processor from A10 to A12

If you follow that pattern, the RAM could be 4GB on the 9th and 10th. The 9th could carry over the same processor as the 8th, like the 7th carried over the A10 processor from the 6th and got a redesigned larger display. Then the 10th gen will change the processor to A14.

That doesn’t matter. The most they get would be A14 chip and no more, which would be nice update but don’t expect any form factor upgrade or 2018 iPad Pro feature dropping down. It will look and feel the same regardless.

5th (A9) and 6th (A10) shared a design, 7th (A10) and 8th (A12) shared a design. This pattern suggests the 9th generation iPad will feature a new design but keep the A12.

Air 3 10,5” design with A13 or A14 would be fantastic, but seems unlikely. I do hope they did something about the white spot problem if they indeed opt for the Air 3 body.

Not sure what you are saying here. The current iPad Air (4th gen) has a 10.9” display and uses the A14. I doubt they would create a slightly smaller and slower iPad Air. And why would anyone want one?

Edit: I’m now thinking you want the base iPad to use the 10.5” iPad Air case. So never mind.

Yeah, that is what I meant! Rumors have been circulating for a while that the iPad 9th generation will feature the Air 3 body. This seems quite plausible to me (the base iPad getting a laminated screen is long overdue according to some).

Having the iPad 9 feature the Air 3 body and the A12 is kinda strange, though, since it’d be identical to the Air 3. Except for the storage and maybe some of the wireless protocols. However both external (to Air 3 form factor) and internal upgrade (to A13 or A14) at the same time seems unlikely given the upgrades the base iPad has received since the 5th gen.

So I guess it seems that it’ll be 10.5” laminated A12 3GB RAM (maybe 4GB?) or 10.2” non-laminated A13 (possibly A14? seems unlikely) 3 or 4GB RAM.
