Hi

upgraded last night to 13.1.1 on IPhone XR. Just noticed Bluetooth drop outs and stutters with my AirPod 2 on YouTube, audible and Apple Music

tried hard restart, repairing. But still there. Never had this before so certainly coming Post update.

anyone else ?

My son is Type 1 diabetic, which means he wears a sensor and transmitter on his arm at all times. This communicates via Bluetooth with his iphone, giving blood glucose readings every five minutes.

After upgrading to iOS13, and inclusive of iOS13.1 (after which I switched to the beta program, and am currently downloading the latest build there), we saw a lot of dropouts and missed readings. I'm considering wiping the phone and going back to iOS12 given that these readings and stability there are so essential.

In general, Bluetooth seems much more unstable. It used to be the case that if he was in the same room and and several metres from his phone, all would be fine. But we're now seeing dropouts when as little as a couch is between him and the phone.

Also, using the phone, like playing in Settings, or doing anything else, seems sometimes, too, to lead to dropped readings.

It was never this case before.

I hope someone in Apple is working on this as a known issue, given the range of reports around Bluetooth connectivity. Many in the diabetic community are reporting similar issues to what I describe above.

Yep my Airpods 1 keeps dropping since 13.0

It’s like the bluetooth effective area got shrunk so much. I notice it will only keep connected if I hold my phone close to my ears. It will drop connection as soon as I put the phone into my pocket...

I tested on two pairs of airpods 1. And both connect perfectly with my Mac computers.

My apple watch sometimes disconnects too but not nearly as crazy as the ear phones.

Yup, got on here just to check but after updating my airpods are dropping out. It’s really freaking annoying. Is there a way to safely roll back?

Just reactivated my iPods 1. And same issue. I tried using my Pods 2 on MacBook and watch a whole Netflix episode without any issue. So certainly something strange with 13 and BT

I hope as this is a health related need that apple works on this right away

Edit. Just created a thread of reddit pointing to your post. Let’s see if they will raise this to the front page there as this usually gets the attention of companies involved.

keep us posted on your progress

I have been using my AirPods all morning and I can’t say that I’ve had any issues. That’s on iOS 13.1.1. I have also streamed via my watch and no issues there either

Which model phone ?
I am also on iPadOS. 13.1. And no issues seems to be centered on the XR

I received an email from Garmin this morning about iOS 13.1 breaking something with Garmin connect so I followed the instructions and things seem to be working. I was able to use my Jaybird X3s, stream to my car and use Garmin Connect so it seems to be more or less working.

Any chance those with issues are wearing an Apple Watch?
Nope. I have a 11 Pro Max, Ceramic Series 5 and AirPods 2. No issues streaming music from the watch using the phone, directly from the phone, directly from music stored on the watch or streaming apple music over wifi or cellular from either the phone or watch. Seems to work ok using any combination and source

I mean if you listened to your airpods from the phone and don't have your apple watch with you. I've notices some anomalies with BT when wearing my AW such as brief dropouts when sending a text message on the phone when it syncs with the watch etc. I'm going to not wear my AW tomorrow and do some more testing to see if it improves. Personally I think Ios 13 has some BT issues.

Not a problem there either. With my watch switched off, I can still listen to music on my phone via my AirPods. I am not sure why you are having BT issues. My watch and phone constantly sync perfectly across messaging.
Are you sure its not an issue with your phone. To me it sounds as if that is the culprit

They are very rare. For the most part its fine and the dropouts are like 1/10 a second and tend to happen when I send a imessage. Ive tested the range too and its fine.

The problem still here. AirPods 1 drops connection as soon as the phone is in my pocket. And Apple Watch S4 drops connection when I’m 3 metres away from the phone.

iPhone XS Max with iOS 13.1.2.

Do you still notice these issues?
