Please tell us what will be upgraded for the new iMac, other than the touch screen! (or does the touch for 27"+ ones only?) [note: hardware part]

As so many people are waiting for it, reveal of the detail might help the sales of the current iMac... right?!

All models have option for up to 2TB HD and up to 16GB RAM. Apple may not use the exact models I mentioned so e.g. 3.06GHz i3 instead of 2.93GHz and 3.33GHz i5 instead of 3.2GHz etc. Can't tell more about the GPU other than mid models will get "Redwood" based GPU and high-end will get "Juniper" based GPU

My guess:

Personally I don't think your specification is what they're going to put on the new iMacs. The current iMac has a HIGH END Core 2 Duo, and yet the iMac is still behind the rest for processing power, so a Core i3 will be very unlikely on the high end models. Using a Core 2 Duo would keep the premium computer very close to the low end Macs, and would keep them behind the rest of the industry.

Apple May not use Core i3 at all, since they are low end (buget) processors.
Or it may use AMD Triple Core Processor for low end iMacs (unlikely)

The most important thing you're missing is the price. Whether the C2D used in iMacs is high-end or not, it's pretty cheap. E7600 costs 133$ while cheapest i5 is 176$, i3 starting from 113$. i5-750 which is currently used in high-end is 196$, only 20$ more than the cheapest i5. Apple is a company and its main idea is to make profit so I doubt they will include something more expensive for the same price and price increase is the least what anyone would want. Currently the E7600 is the default CPU in 3 models out of 4 so I wouldn't be surprised that Apple used the i3 as the successor of E7600. People just wants iSomething, most people don't even know the difference between i3 and i5 let alone that they would notice it.

i3 as stock CPU and i5 as BTO option is what I think Apple will do. Of course I don't exclude the possibility of i5 as stock CPU in high-end 21.5" and low-end 27" but knowing the fact that it's possible that Apple might stock with C2D in low-end so they could use 320M, is driving me away from i5 as stock model. It could also confuse people a lot as the high-end will likely use i5 as well so Clarkdale with higher clock speed in low-end and Lynnfield with lower clock speed in high-end doesn't sound like the scenario Apple is after, especially because Apple poorly advertises their CPUs as dual core.

Also, Apple has always been behind PCs in terms of raw performance.

i severely doubt a touch screen, especially without a redesign of the current machine, especially if they went resistive which i cant see apple doing with its interest in capacitive touch technology but can you imagine the cost an 27" imac would be with a capacitive touchscreen
