There is another post somewhere on this forum regarding this same issue, but just in case its not related...

How full is your hard disk? Its possible that some files (large files) are spread over the disk and cannot be moved to make the storage contiguous to allow a suitable amount of free space for creating the new partition. (deep breath)

The post I was referring to was a question where the OP was looking for free defragmenting software for OS X to create a Boot Camp partition. This may or may not be your issue, but might help lead you to the solution.

The disk utility that comes with OS X is fine for partitioning and the Boot Camp re-partitioner is required for this task if you dont wish to lose data. ...and by data I mean your whole hard drive. Boot Camp isnt the problem here, the state of data on the disk may be.

ok, I have another question. I deleted all a bunch of stuff and cleared up some hard drive space so not it seems to be working. My question is after I put vista on there is there any way to easily just delete the entire partition. I may decide that I don't like vista and just want to delete it.

Thanks to the above poster for your help.
