well, you know while browsing any site by firefox and try to download a file it forces you to download it by firefox...can you use another downloading software like 'speed download' or 'Download Accelerator Plus' to download files so you can get higher download speed and better functions???

Im new to macs so please dont insult me if its a noob question XD

Thanks,

here's an addon download manager that you can try out to personally manage this a little more.

As far as helping out speed, I can only suggest getting a faster internet connection because I download my max speed through firefox all the time.

Let us know if that addon is what you were looking for.

I've never used speed download (nor do I want to), but it says that it should work with both Safari and Firefox. Is it not working at all? Are you sure you installed it correctly?

Not super familiar with that one (just went to yazsoft and it looks pretty nice), but I would double check and make sure you've got the latest version downloaded and installed.

Hopefully someone else with have some experience with it and be able to help you out a little more.:)

Do you use broadband? Are these speed download programs really worth having when you aren't on dialup?

Right so the Windows on a Mac forum would probably have been more suitable ;).

I'd suggest going to their website and see if they have a Mac version and see which browsers it supports.

FWIW It seems that SpeedDownload for Mac integrates fine with Safari, and works with other browsers too, I suggest you try the free trial for the Mac version when you MBP arrives. It is perfectly possible that Speeddownload won't work with Safari under Windows but will under OS X, especially as Safari is so new for Windows.

i have just cheacked speed download site and they say it works with firefox and safari(http://www.yazsoft.com/sitepages/supportpages/browsers.html)..i have just tested it again in firefox and it works!! but in safari it doesnt..probably the reason is as you said that safari for windows is a Beta!
