Any patch to manually throttle CPU?

Hey guys,

I'm running a water-damaged Late 2011 Macbook Air. After letting it dry and changing the battery (which died), the computer is still really slow and after doing some investigation, and applying a fix for the kernel_task issue that is present in some cases (see http://www.rdoxenham.com/?p=259) it appears that the processor has been locked to the lowest cpu frequency, making OS X 10.8 unusable.

I'm sure this is a software limitation because I wiped OS X and I'm currently running Ubuntu and I'm able to manually change the cpu governor to performance or conservative, and the macbook air is snappy as it was before the water damage in OS X. Funny thing, if I use the ondemand governor, the computer is as slow as it was in OS X.

Is there some way to get something similar in OS X 10.8? Is there some patch that will allow me to configure the cpu frequency or cpu governor? I can use this machine in Ubuntu for development without problems but I'd really like to go back to OS X.

You realize that even if you were able to do this, your battery life would suffer tremendously and the computer would always run very hot.

I'm not sure, what i'm trying to accomplish is to 'uncap' the lock. In Ubuntu I'm getting 5-6 hours while using the conservative governor, which has the cpu in a low frequency until more power is needed. I'd like to do something similar in OS X, 'patch' it so I can either control it manually or uncap the lock so it works like it did before.
