hi ppl, i wondering if there is any possible way to turn a 20 day old imac i7 into the refresh version i feel pretty damn gutted that the refresh came so soon. The new graphic card seems bit of a bump from the originally, not sure about the new processor is there much difference with that compared to the pre-refresh i7?

No returns on build to order Apple products like the core I 7. U can ask but that's usually their policy

You can try begging. I've heard that has worked in the past when people just missed the return period an a new model promptly shipped. Be prepared to pay the restock fee though. Probably not worth the extra $.

the imac i bought was from the store so wasnt a build to made order if that right

Processor went from 2.7 to 2.93 ghz. That's increase of not that much in performance. I would give it about 10% tops.
However, the GPU has been improved a lot better. Apple finally realized that they are still using 4000 series and while others are using 5000 series. So, they dumped the 5000 series. I am upset they are not using 5800 series, and decided to go with 5700 series. But, the improvement is definitely there. Are you going to game? If yes, then new imac will be better.

Oh. Didn't know they stocked core i7. In store. When I purchased mine 7 months ago it was build to order.

Anyways you can try. I returned/exchanged a MacBook 2.2 gz for a 2.4 16 days after I purchased it. I paid the $120 or 10% restocking fee.

Do you guys think they will lower the price on the refurb model with the new refresh? I want to get an i7 2.8. Also is there a price protection if they do lower the 2.8 i7? How long is my price guaranteed?

errm not really at moment just learning about app development so its like xcode and photoshop really

Would it be worth all the messing around to get upgraded for the refresh version of the imac i7? should i just be happy with what i got?

I'm in the same boat! GRRR...

I've had my 21.5" for 2 1/2 weeks and now I want to upgrade. It's the higher-end one with the ATI 4650 HD card and the 1TB drive. Do I have a shot? I just passed the 14-day return window. I definitely want to upgrade to either the new 21.5" higher-end one or, for an extra $200, go with the lower-end 27"...:D

By the way, FYI, I have 16GB of DDR3-1066 RAM. Some of you may have added RAM as well so I checked that out as well: ALL four models with ALL of its base and upgradable processors support BOTH 1066MHz and 1333MHz DDR3 RAM.

How much of a difference between the two speeds will be noticeable? I could just sell all four of my 4GB DDR3-1066 chips (all NEW! Grrr...) and then buy DDR3-1333's...What a pain...:(

Any recommendations?
