Hi, I'm looking to buy in the next week or so and have been hanging out for the may refresh. I've hung on an extra week to see if there have been any problems with the newest iMac and also been trying to fine videos on YouTube comparing the latest iMac with the previous generation in terms of performance.
So far, how have things been shaping up? All good?

Big problem seems to be the optical drive inside has a feature which purposefully slows the DVD read speed to quiet the drive and prevents ripping.

To clarify, this doesn't prevent ripping DVDs, but it does make it painfully slow (negating the faster encoding due to the improved processors).

The workaround is to use an external drive or flash the drive firmware.

I just set up a new iMac for a friend of mine. It's a solid computer. I wish they had changed the design a little but overall its an awesome device. it's super fast and even though the current design has been out for a while it is still very good looking.
