any professional classical musicians here? do you use the iPad Pro instead of paper sheet music?

any advice appreciated. I plan to buy one for a new young musician who recently acquired DMA(Doctor of Music). budget is $2000 or less(iPad Pro 12.9" and the required accessories for controlling the sheet music on the screen or whatever software is needed)

thanks!

Sorry no. Those I see on concerts (chamber music) are mostly the 12.9 inch. They are increasingly many. Both piano players and stings players are using them. No clue how much storage is good to have. .

I am not a professional, but I have been playing the piano since the mid-90s. I moved to digital sheet music almost 10 years ago. I started with the first gen iPad air, then the surface pro 3, and in late 2015 I moved to the first 12.9 iPad pro (I made several comparisons back then in a dedicated piano forum).
One thing you might want to be aware of is that a new larger iPad (14.1in) is rumored to be announced in Spring 2023.
For me that will be the new sheet music device.
I personally use PDF Expert or sometimes Apple Books for sheet music PDFs, but most pianists use For Score. If you want to control the page turning via a pedal (I use my fingers, just like with paper) I have heard good things about the PageFlip Cicada (pedal using bluetooth, works with forscore)
