I'm on iOS 6 jb on my iPhone 4S. Any reason I shouldn't update to iOS 7 and jb? My fav tweaks were tetherme, movie box, music box, ikeywi (5 row keyboard)? How much space does the iOS 7 update take?

Does the activation lock hurt resell value?

Activation lock makes the phone not usable anymore so yes, it will hurt resell value (assuming that the phone is activation lock)

Is there a way to enable airdrop on iPhone 4S?

so my understanding is activation lock means if it's stolen, theyd have to know my apple id and password to be able to use it? So before i sell it i can logout of my apple id?

I almost forgot this one, if i update the 4s, do i get the cable authentification warnings with the old 30 pin connector?

Yes, that is correct. You need to turn off "find my iPhone" and log out of iCloud before you restore or wipe it for it to be usable again

Of course, there'll always be those people who will sell them for parts

I think only the lightning connector has the hardware to check for "non-certified" cables

You should definitely update before it too late. (Apple can release an update to patch jailbreak any second)

I guess it depends on if iOS7 gives you more than are getting with your current iOS.

I'm on 6.1.2 and upgrading to 7 wont give me anything I need, but will take away Lockinfo which is one of only 3 or 4 reasons I jailbreak in the firstplace (the others being BiteSMS, SBSettings and FiveIconDock)

losing Lockinfo would be a real killer for me

Yeah I'm wondering that too. Getting airdrop and FaceTime audio would be nice though.

So restore thru iTunes, then restore from backup to get my stuff on there?

I hope someone in the JB community comes out with a way to patch activation lock. idk the legality of doing that but it would be great to up the resale value of devices on iOS 7.

I guess I am dense but how does activation lock change the resale value.

Basically, activation lock turns an iPhone into a paperweight. When the device has no activation lock, anyone can plug in their Apple ID and use the device as normal. When activation lock is active, the device is usually marked as lost or stolen, so the device is basically useless until the Apple ID and password of the original owner is entered, thus removing the activation lock. All in all, a device with activation lock is useless unless you are using it for parts. The only way that I can really think of bypassing activation lock is by switching out the logic board with one that isn't activation locked. Hope that helps!

I guess it'd hurt the black market but if you legitimately sell it I take it u just log out of the phone

Still not understanding, if I sell my iPhone why would I not just sign out of it and set it up as new prior to shipping it to whoever bought it.

I've jailbroke many iphones, and never had an issue with activation lock, or reselling my phone to anyone.

That's exactly what you need to do. If you don't sign out, the person who buys your iPhone will be locked out and most likely will be mad at you. All you have to do is sign out, restore, and set up as a new device, just like you said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that activation lock is new with iOS 7.

The only reason I can think of is nostalgia.

I have updated 4 iDevices to 7.0.4 and jailbroken (iPhone 5, iPod touch 5, iPad 2, iPad Air).

I've kept my iPad 3 on 6.1.3 (jailbroken), just to keep the old look and feel around.

Actually, I can think of one more reason. The iPad music app in iOS 7 is pants. Especially in album view.

Yeah I guess ft audio is worth it alone. The airdrop enabler works as advertised?

Just finished restoring my iPad 4 to 7.0.4 from 6.1.2 . I really like IOS 7 so far, Its' smooth and I don't really think it looks that bad with my own background. I just restored from an iCloud update I made just before I restored my iPad, it took a while for the apps in the folders to load. I then saved my SHSH using Tinyumbrella. Lastly, I ran the evasi0n 7 v1.0.2 to jailbreak. I had 0 problems with any of the processes.
Now I will wait patiently for apps to update.
