I ordered an allegedly new iPad Pro from Amazon (shipped direct from Amazon, not a third party seller). Everything looks fine, no marks, except there is a weird scratch across the protective film that the iPad came with. There is no noticeable damage to the screen itself or any other part of the iPad, and it set up perfectly (and the model # says it's new).

Has anyone seen something like this? I'm worried that I got one that had been used and got charged for a new one (though I literally haven't seen any other marks on it). What could cause this if it's an actual new one?

Box sealed and everything? Does/did it allow you to sign up for AppleCare+? If yes, must be something that happened at the factory.

Yep, box was sealed and everything. I'm wondering if the film itself had been damaged before it was put on the iPad, but I thought they had much better QC there.

hmm... The protective film is there to protect the device while on its way to you.
You are describing a result of that protection - on the protective film itself.
And, it seems that it worked!

Why would the protective film need to be unmarked?

Thanks for everyone's input; I had just never seen an issue like that the second I opened the sealed box. I guess I'll try to stop worrying...

It is not worth worrying about. Just enjoy your new iPad! :)
