I'm going to get rid of my 1,1 (graphics card is bad and possibly the power supply also)

1. Is there any value to keeping the hard drive sleds? Can they be used for anything else?

2. Is there anything else that can be salvaged from the Mac, I'm not going to sell the parts (likely just give it away), I'm just looking for anything that I might be able to use somehow?

Thanks.

The hard drives sleds from a 1,1 work in Mac Pros to the 3,1 model. the 4,1 and 5,1 use a longer sled. I discovered this the hard way when upgrading from a 3,1 to a 5,1 and trying to move the sleds from the 3,1 to the 5,1.

So, your sleds would be useful to an owner of an earlier Mac Pro who wanted to be able to hot swap HDDs.

^^^^If you dismount the drive, you can then pull it out. Insert the new drive sled and mount it with Disk Utility.
