Any reason to NOT buy my iMac from Amazon?

As of now, Amazon has a $50 rebate on the 2.0 20", $75 rebate on the 2.4 20", and $100 rebate on the 24". It seems like most people buy from Apple.com. With Amazon's rebates, along with no shipping or sales tax, makes iMac I'm looking at $200 less then Apple.com.

I am curious if there is any reason to not go through them? I guess if you wanted to custom make the machine, but for set configs I'm trying to see if there is any reason I should stay away from them.

I bought my iMac from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and the rebate plus no sales tax paid for Applecare. Received in three days with no problems.

I recommend Amazon!

I think most people order from apple.com because they can build to order. For example, if you wanted a larger hard drive, etc.
 
If there is a problem with the machine and you feel you want it replaced, you have to go through Amazon. Which means dealing with them and with shipping.

Apple will fix under warranty, but Apple will not do exchanges on machines not bought through Apple.com or Apple Stores.

What about if you get it from the CompUSA, is that still considered an Apple Store or not?
 
Sorry to go a little off topic here guys but I am looking to purchase some products from Amazon, first, do they ship internationally (Australia) and 2nd how much do they charge for that kind of postage?

I have purchased a number of Mac's from Amazon and I don't think you can beat their prices. Shopping at the Apple retail stores means you have to pay tax, and shopping online means you have to pay shipping...

I was concerned abut the "return" issue also, and ended up purchasing my MBP at the local Apple Retail store last November. It's still not clear to me if you get better (ie faster) service if you purchase the machine in the store.

Because they had the one I wanted, I ended up paying $150 in sales tax, and passing up a $150 rebate from Amazon. Since I was getting the brand new 17" 2.33 C2D right when they came out, I thought it was worth the risk if I had any issues, since I could just take it back to the Apple store.

Of course I haven't had any issues, so it seems like it was a dumb move now. Then again, it's hard to pass up the Mac when it is sitting right there in the store, just waiting for you to bring it home...

I wouldn't hesitate to get one from Amazon though, and their rebate program works pretty well...
 
Amazon is great. They are great at handling returns (they give you a label to print and will pay for return shipping if the problem was because of them, i.e., a product problem). But nothing beats the convenience of simply heading to an apple store if something is not quite peferct, showing them the dead pixel or whatnot, and walking out with a new computer.

They each have positives and negatives. Amazon's price is better and if something is wrong they will treat you really well but you will have to ship it back to them and wait for them to ship a new one back to you. Apple Store's price is not as good, but if something is wrong, they will treat you right on the spot and within 15 minutes you are on your way home with a new iMac. Weigh the options and then pull the trigger.
 
personel i buy itfrom amazon bcz the price is more low then the apple store

I'm going to be ordering an iMac soon and I plan on buying from :apple: because then I can get a refurb i7 really cheap.
 
If it was any other time of year I would say yes, buy from Amazon for the free shipping and tax savings. I don't recommend that now though, as Apple is about to start their free iPod nano/free iPod touch program, so I would say wait for it and get the free iPod and free printer, then resell the iPod and printer (friends, family, craigslist) and you'll save even more than you would by purchasing from Amazon.

You can even sell it on eBay for a profit, just be diligent with your math and take the 15% fee into account.
