I'm looking for a new compact, nicely designed digital camera. Megapixels aren't really important to me. Anything that will take pictures good enough for 8.5 x 11 prints is fine. I'm more interested in the design and overall functionality. Any thoughts/reviews on any of the following?

Casio Exilim EX-S2 2MP Digital Camera
HP Photosmart R717 6.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
Nikon Coolpix S5 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (White)
Canon PowerShot S500 5MP Digital Elph with 3x Optical Zoom
Sony Cybershot DSCT7 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
Casio Exilim EX-Z60 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)
Casio Exilim EX-Z60BK 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Black)
Nikon Coolpix L1 6.2MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom (Black)
Nikon Coolpix S5 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom

thanks!

Well, I don't know if you will like this or not as it will probably cause you alot more research, but this is the best digital camera review site I have ever come across.

Or dpreview.com which I prefer.

You need some more idea of what you want to do other than being able to print at that size.

What kind of pics are you most likely to take? Portraits, landscapes, macros, daylight, lowlight? Do you like to just stick it on auto and click the button? Or do you like to have more control over aperture/shutter speed?

Do you enjoy manipulating your images afterwards? Or do you want something that looks 'punch' out of the camera so you can print immediately?

i don't know anything about those cameras.. but i just ordered this one + a 1gb card. Fuji E900.. I got it because it's a point and shoot with dslr functions for about a third of the price. I don't need a DSLR, but i do like to have some control, and this offers a full manual option. it also has 9.0 megapixels, which is awesome, 4x optical zoom (7.6X digital), and RAW format. neat-o says I.

I'm a Canon fan...so I guess I would go with the Canon after scouring dpreview to make sure that none of the others you are looking at are superior...

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-T30. And it is just awesome. I wanted a slim and this has been a great camera. I also did all my research at dcresource.com. BTW it does great videos.
