I didn't hear any rumors and leaks about Mac Pro. I guess Apple is preparing secretly? The only thing that we know is that Mac Pro is a modular computer.

If you don't know how to search, the current active thread is https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/waiting-for-mac-pro-7-1.1975126/page-413#post-26943964
Do you expect others to read them and summarize for you?Do you expect me to read more than 10,000 replies? That's the problem for the thread system. Not able to find a specific information easily.

In general, a good approach for long threads is to start at the most recent, and move backwards.
And that's the bad aspect of the thread system. No thanks.
I believe this prette much sums it up. Please mods, close the thread so that we can continue “praising” apple in one of the other several threads. Thank you. Here’s the rumor:
Apple will announce a product in 2019 and it will be named “Mac Pro.” It will be modular, by Sir Ive’s definition of the word. It will be an improvement over the 2013 model.
Not confirmed that it will ship in 2019. Also not confirmed that the first 100k units sold will have faulty GPUs or overheating issues.
The present IMac Pro has about everything most pro users at this moment need. I do not believe that Apple will act stupidly by offering a collection of countless modules at astronomic prices and call it the new MacPro.Given it has taken this long, and there is still no sign of it, it's fair to say it will be an over-designed pile of crap. It will have an initial OOOOOH COOL! factor, like the trash can Mac Pro did, but it'll become clear very soon that it is overpriced, underspecced, and will have limited utility unless you buy twenty of Apple's "modules", which will drive the cost to astronomical levels, and it still won't have standard graphics card bays that you can swap in and out as needed with off-the-shelf cards.
Again! Before saying (or believing) Apple is run by idiots and can only bring products not suitable for the needs of users, let's wait and see. It's been confirmed that it'll have thunderbolt and USB C and ship with 256GB SSD as standard and cost £3999.
Confirmed by who you ask...ME!
I'm not an insider or anything, but you know I'm right - the 'entry level' Mac Mini proves it.
The good news is you can add your own graphics card and RAM!
Not a standard graphics card of course, it'll have to be a bespoke flashed Apple card costing 3 times the price of it's Windows counterpart.
I've been waiting since 2012 to update my 2009 Mac Pro, but in the intervening years Apple have become a company that no longer makes computers for me, so I'm almost beyond caring
I've not left Apple - Apple left me.
I'm already starting to transition from Logic (the main reason I use a Mac) to Pro Tools in preparation for swapping platforms.
If apple confirm my above prediction to be correct with the next Mac Pro then my next new computer will be a PC, something that would have been unthinkable to me a decade ago.
I'd rather have cut my own testicles off than use Windows then, but it's just impossible to stay with Apple based on their current mantra of less is more.
Apple were always a more expensive brand, but ultimately better value - that's simply not true for the most part now.
With the exception of my phone & my wife's iMac, ALL my Apple equipment is almost a decade old now because in that time Apple hasn't significantly improved the spec or design of any of their line and in some ways have actually downgraded specs (soldered RAM lack of firewire etc).
So when the new Mac Pro flops, Apple will (again) blame the lack of demand for a 'Pro Mac' rather than the actual reason which is them stubbornly refusing to meet users needs by releasing a flexible, affordable product and insisting on producing another overpriced, bespoke inflexible Mac...AGAIN!!!
Really hope I'm wrong, 99.9% certain I'm not.
Apple certainly have millions of MUCH bigger customers than me, but indirectly I'm responsible for hundreds of people now using Macs both professionally and personally and cumulatively responsible for hundreds of thousands of pounds in sales too, so alienating me (and the many others like me) with their chosen path is ultimately self harming.
Like I say really hope I'm wrong.
No one will be happier than me if the New Mac Pro starts at £2299 and can be customised to suit, but we know that won't happen.
Apple will start it at probably £3999 with upgrades that are ridiculously inflated to the point of being unattainable to many and then it's 'disappointing' sales will be a self fulfilling prophecy.
Apple stopped selling the old MacPro because of some regulations on the power supply fans. I cannot recall exactly.I've been waiting since 2012 to update my 2009 Mac Pro, but in the intervening years Apple have become a company that no longer makes computers for me, so I'm almost beyond caring

[doublepost=1546009113][/doublepost]3000 Euro in 2008 was a lot of money at that time. The Euro was strong. Still you spent it as you say.Apple stopped selling the old MacPro because of some regulations on the power supply fans. I cannot recall exactly.
Since this day, I'm waiting for a decent Mac without a screen attached.
I think MacBooks are great if you have to be mobile, but typing directly in front of the screen is annoying.
iMacs are out of the picture, because I do not buy screens with crammed in hardware.
So Apple left me with no options other than the Mini.
I was excited when it came out.
When I selected the specs I wanted and considered that there is no way to get a decent GPU without paying loads of money I stopped considering the Mini.
This message is typed on a MacPro 3,1 from 2008 which cost 3000 Euro but was my greatest Apple purchased.
I owned MacBooks for work since 2006 and the Intel Switch.
My last Retina MBP was the 2012 dedicated GPU model, an d it was great at the time.
I stopped considering MacBooks since the 2016 keyboard and the massive touchpad and useless touch bar.
My MacPro 3,1 is slowly dying. All SATA drives are filled with SSD's in adapter trays.
I love the machine, but the MacPro 2019 will probably start above 5000 Euro.
Apple has left me in the rain by not supporting recent Xcode versions on macOS without also upgrading the hardware.
I can only run El Capitan, so I also stopped iOS development that I started when Apple introduced it.
I immediately signed up with my credit card when it became available.
Here's what I like:
My iPhone X, my iPad Air 2, my Apple TV 4k.
Other than that, I have no interest in giving Apple money.
I'm sitting here and wait wait wait.
If a baseline MacPro will be available for 3000 Euro to put RAM and SSD's in there, I will consider it.
If not ... I'm out. For Good.
I disagree because of the MacBook Pro pricing here in Europe and what you get for it.and everything related to money does it as well... wether we like it or not.
Apple to Halt Mac Pro Sales in Europe Effective March 1 2013 Over Regulatory RequirementsApple stopped selling the old MacPro because of some regulations on the power supply fans.
I do not believe that this Forum is the right place to propagate political animosities. (Personally I do not believe that for instance Obama made the entire world a far better place with more democracies and less dictatorships than Trump, but that is my own opinion and has nothing to do with this forum).
If that is true, it will be more or less in the price range of the End 2013 model.$2999 USD is the rumor for 2019 mMP.
- 2019 Intel Xeon 4-core/6-core Standard (Cascade Lake?)
- 8GB 2666 Mhz ECC RAM Standard
- RTX 2060 Max-Q form-factor GPU 6GB VRAM
- 256GB SSD
- T3 Chip
- Latest Wifi Standard
- 2x10GB Ethernet
- 4 x Thunderbolt 4 ports (the modular part of the "m"MP will be something to do with mMP being able to negotiate full x16 PCIe3.0 speeds via an external "modular" box; thus, the "modular" part of the Mac Pro);
- ^^^Or, it could a be proprietory Apple connector, perhaps, teamed-up with Nvidia and NVLink to willy-nilly plug and unplug modular part that has access to full PCIe3.0x16 or x8 speeds. Whatever that bandwidth is with internal PCIe, it is the same externally.
- And, your usual array of I/O's like USB 3.1 ports, etc....
- Usual Toslink, Audio In/Out ports
- etc.
The March 2013 regulatory change was announced in December 2009 (https://www.document-center.com/standards/show/IEC-60950-1/A1) - so Apple had more than three years to make the minor changes necessary. (And standards are usually available in draft form for a year or more before publication.)Still many people continue to use those so called now Classic MacPro computers, which proves no particular dangerosity was the reason of the sales stop in Europe but only legal requirements which could not be economically met at that time by Apple just for the European market.
Instead we got "birth defect" consumer ATI graphics processors hyped as FirePro workstation graphics.
