Hard to ask for much more from a tablet that’s at such a cheap price point thoughSure, but the fact that you need a work around just to access the full Android app ecosystem only goes to show that they are intended mainly to be e-readers, basic media devices, and vehicles to sell more Amazon products rather than full fledged tablets like an iPad.
I’m not knocking the Fire Tablets though. They’re fine for what they are, and VERY modestly priced compared to even the cheapest iPads.
There’s a few hidden cheap gems out there though. In Canada atleast they were always giving away the LG g pads for data promos that people turn around and sell off for cheap. I have two LG g pad III tablets at home for the kids, both had for around $100 New off craigslist. 1080p IPS laminated display, snapdragon 617 octacore, 2gb of ram, expandable storage, LTE, IR Blaster, even a full size USB port on the top to transfer files to a flash drive.
For what they are, they are great, plays their mine craft and other kid games great and store a ton of shows and movies on them. Does it compare to my iPad for performance and app support? No, iPad still runs circle around it. But I could have also bought 4 of them for the price of this thing lol.
I still appreciate apple selling a cheaper iPad and still feel the price is fair for the performance and features it comes with, still not cheap enough to buy for my kids though lol
