I have a lot of old photos I want to scan to my Mac and it doesn’t seem like any photo scanners out there are worth getting. I have an all in one printer but wanted something smaller that I could ot right next to the computer. Do they even make new models anymore because everyone I looked at, the reviews were from years ago. Thank you.

Epson V500's are good enough for the RAF photographic department, so I imagine they are okay.

I gave away all my scanners. I use ScannerPro on my iPhone for those pesky non-digital receipts and documents.

For my boxes of old photos I sent them off to Fotobridge for scanning. There are other services but I found they had the best combination of quality and convenience.

EPSON's scanners are a good as you can get at their price points. If you are scanning prints, not fillm, you don't need anything better than the V600. The generally better V800 & V850 will do better from film, but you won't see an improvement scanning prints as even the v600 resolves more detail than any B&W or color print retains.

I use an Epson V500 with a custom holder and anti-Newton glass for slides. I’d love a V850 though for the ability of fluid mounting.
