Any surf photographers out there?

I am new to photography and being a surfer myself, I really like to take pictures of surfing.

Some of the areas I travel are RI, Florida, California, and of course the North Shore of Oahu. I will be heading back down to Oahu in late November to catch some triple crown action.

Right now I have a 40D with an EF 75-300 zoom lense. I know its not the greatest lense so I was wanting to know what lenses everyone else uses?

I like shooting surf. I've had some luck in Waikiki and tried shooting Pipeline. I think to do a decent job, you need at least a 300 mm lens. Having a 1.6x multiplier will definitely help. An acquaintance of mine shoots with the canon 600 mm and gets some really great shots.

I'm shooting with a 70-200 and it's really not good enough.

Pipeline is probably one of the best surfing locations. The break is so close to shore....
