Hi all I am using kinds of providers where the cellular data is quite restricted, but I personally do not watch any youtube or streaming videos and I don't play games at all. I primarily use my phone for web browsing, social networking and taking pictures as well. Is there any tips that I can do to keep my data usage low and restricted? Does apps running at the background cost a lot of traffic? Should I keep GPS (location) off as well? Is there any universal setting that I can keep all pictures / videos from social networking apps NOT downloaded unless I want them to? Any additional tips?

If you’re using social media, esp Facebook, those are known data hogs. You might try turning off ‘Background App Refresh’ for them and closing the apps when you’re not using them.

For general web browsing, try using an ad blocker so you aren’t paying for ads with your data plan.
