Any tips on Best web hosting company for Macs & PCs?

Web hosting doesn't have anything do with client computer operating system. They all work equally. You can however choose what type of OS you'd like your server to use and most prefer Unix.

I've had a client on Start Logic, they were okay, but they had an error on across one of their shared server I had to talk to the tech guys for quite some time to convince them to look into it. Like many programmers, admins, have trouble admitting fault :)
 
I don't know about those companies, but I've had some good experiences with http://www.hostgator.com and I have used them for about a year. Currently they only do Linux hosting, but they are planning on doing Windows hosting as well, soon, so you might want to look into that. Oh, and their customers get access to website templates.
 
Hosting Question

I use SiteGround for many sites I host, that go out to a wide platform. About 5$ a month, aproximitly 70$ a year with a free domain name. Ridiculous amount of storage space and bandwidth. Linux servers with CPanel and Fantastico, amazing customer support.

I've used Eleven2.com for a couple years and have nothing but praise for the company.

I used to host with iPowerWeb, but they frankly sucked and their customer service was awful.

In the few problems I've had (relating to domain transfers from iPowerWeb not handling things correctly) Eleven2.com was available and diagnosing the problem within minutes on IM.

They're cheaper than iPowerWeb, but where they really excel is in support.

You get full stats, unlimited email and subdomains.

They 2 very different companies. ASO is great if you only need a small amount of space and bandwidth. They have tons of features and getting everything set up is easy as pie. A great for people new to web hosting.

Apollo hosting is the opposite. Website is a pain and getting stuff setup isn't as easy, but they give you tons and tons of bandwidth for the similar prices as ASO.
 
after many, many hosts over the past 10 years or so what i found is this: shared hosting sucks. period. the question is what shared host will suck the least. i have had micfo, a small orange, media temple, mbs host, hostgator, and a number of others i cannot remember; all were mediocre in thier own way.

one thing i have discovered is that all of those hosts oversell; eg. they sell plans with more space and bandwidth than they can actually accommodate knowing that most customers will never use a significant portion of what they pay for.

until recent i had a small orange, which has a lot of outages, slow loading, etc... but now i have gone to medialayer.com which is a zero-overselling host and so far i have been happy - its only been a few days but the speeds at which my site and FTP work is noticeably faster. they are also quick to answer support tickets and willing to accommodate special requests, etc.

I'll second SiteGround. I've never had any reason to complain and plenty to brag about, and they still appear to be the best deal running.

I would go to webhostingtalk.com instead of asking here. Just search for review under the appropriate subforum, and you should be able to find out what people are thinking about the several hostingproviders. The reason of why I would check out WHT is simply just that it's a forum where a lot of the hostingcompanies are themselves active in. You'll find a lot of nice people there that could give some advice.
