Just something our professor passed on about when his friends ask him to do design work for him, they can't afford what he'd normally charge so he tells them to give him 20% of their profit.

Just an idea if you can't afford to pay for the design now.

Good luck tracking that profit. ;)

I give advice in my area of professional expertise for free without even thinking. Why is this different?

OP: If I could design something for you I would, but I'm not a designer and I reckon you don't want a picture of stick people

If your profession was to give out advice, would you still do it for free? I help people all the time, but if I have to do the actual work, then I expect to get some kind of compensation. Last time I was in the grocery store I didn't see any free food available on the shelves.

But if the OP wants a free logo from an amateur, then I say go for it if doesn't care about the quality. Though, I don't understand why he doesn't just use one of the cheap logo resources available on the internet. Probably because he wants something nice and original but is too _____ to pay for it.
