I'm seriously hating what I've seen so far of LiquidGlass on macOS 26.2
To paraphrase some famous words "One giant step backward for Mac-kind"

But as far as I can see the implementation on iOS and iPad is less-worse, and I want to upgrade my iPhone & iPad to take advantage of latest security and other features.

Like many of us, I need to get work done on my macOS (MacBookPro in my case) machine, not be distracted by brain-dead UI/UX decisions.
(Maybe by the time they get to macOS 26.3 or 26.4 it will suck less, and I'll finally bite the bullet.)

Wondering if anyone has upgraded their iOS and iPadOS device and still running macOS Sequoia on the desktop?
Any compatibility issues or other problems I should be aware of?

Thank you...

The overly rounded corners kinda bug me but I will just get used to it. I used the beta on iOS month ago and was very annoyed with the design changes. now I don't notice it. 26.xxx whatever isn't going to change the look. This is it...

I just updated my m4 pro 14" to 26.1. My m3u is still on 15.7.2. I updated to 26.0.1 on my m3u last month and it didn't go well. Photoshop/ Capture one did not run right. Not sure what caused it but I rolled back to sequoia.

Yep, still on Sequoia; holding out being suspicious it might be bad or buggy but foremost because of being too busy...

Same here. iOS 26.1, watchOS 26.1, macOS "Sequoia" 15.7.2.

There has been no major problem with this arrangement. I can even still use the iPhone Mirroring app to get into my phone from my Mac.

The only thing that I can say that I have noticed is that iOS now has categorization for text messages (spam, promotions, etc.), which I understand is in Tahoe, but Sequoia doesn't know about. So it just means my slightly-more-organized message threads on my phone show up as more of a jumbled all-in-one-spot mess on the Mac. ...I'm not *missing* any messages, they just don't get filtered into buckets.

(The "tinted" liquid glass option introduced in iOS 26.1 helped a lot with making the liquid glass on the iPhone easier to handle. However, from what I have seen in other people's screenshots, this option barely does anything on Tahoe.)

I was fully planning to wait on iOS 26 for longer, but the "call filtering" feature enticed me to try it out. (This is where the phone will pick up calls for you and ask the caller to identify themselves before actually ringing your phone. It's a little bit better than just sending all unknown calls to voicemail.)

I think it will be time to move to iOS / iPadOS 26 with 26.2 (mid-December) if you haven't done it yet by then. Apple typically doesn't keep offering security updates for the "old version" on devices that are eligible to upgrade after about three months. A sure sign that it is time to upgrade will be if iOS 26.2 comes out and there is not an iOS 18 "point release" (18.7.3?) dropping at the same time. Sequoia will continue to get security updates for about two years though, no rush for that one, and I'm planning on waiting (at least) a few more months yet.

I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 26 right away. But I'm a bit hesitating to update my Mac Mini to Tahoe because of all the discussions on fora.
However, I recently updated my work M1 MacBook to Tahoe: it is running fine and I got used to the new look quickly. So I think I will update my Mini as 26.2 comes out. YMMV.

I'm usually quick to upgrade, but this is the first time since Snow Leopard in 2012, that I've reformatted and wiped my disk just for the sole reason to downgrade back to the previous OS, Sequoia.

The rounded corners for (whatever the new OS is called) are ugly, the corner radius before was perfect.

The Finder sidebar not being seamless with the Finder content, making it look like two windows are stuck together, on top of each other, is visually unattractive on the (whatever the new OS is called.)

The launchpad (with a few modifications to show more rows/columns) was better. Your apps were more prominent.

Everything is just slightly more ugly with macOS 26, and reverting back to the previous OS returned the animations to buttery smoothness.

I will be sticking with Sequoia for quite a while unless drastic changes happen to the UI to return it to it's aesthetically superior form. Failing that, I'll be using ElementaryOS.

I still use a 2019 Intel machine and I have iOS 26 on my iPhone, but since I'm broke I don't plan on upgrading until late 2026 or early 2027 when the supposed OLED 16 inch comes out. Sequoia is decent, though it has its occasional frustrations like some UI bugs and overaggressive spotlight indexing. I am glad Apple added tint control option in iOS 26.1. I think liquid glass looks better when its clear, otherwise it looks dull.

Still on 15 myself because of the usual compatibility issues with audio plugins and stability worries. I always wait with upgrading till the WWDC in June, regardless the OS.

Is anyone with a watch on 26 having issues unlocking a Mac on Sequoia? That functionality stopped working for me. I reset the setting, etc...with no luck.

Works without problems for me. Does it automatically. Switched my phone, iPad & watch to 26 but not my Mac.

Right here - I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max, so I couldn't downgrade it to iOS 18, but yes, on my production machine, I am on macOS Sequoia. Hate how Apple has implemented Liquid Glass on macOS. The flat design of macOS Sequoia is perfect for the desktop environment - it just doesn't work on high resolution and widescreen desktop displays, IMHO.

It is working fine for me also (I am on WatchOS 26 en MacOS Sequoia).

However, last week it wouldn't work sometimes. I am not sure if this was the cause, but I had a charger plus cable laying in front of my Mac Mini. After I removed that, it was working fine again (maybe something was blocked?).

Edit: is de Watch supposed to wake the Mac up from sleep also? If that is the case then that does not work for me. What I do: tap on my keyboard and then the Watch unlocks my Mac.

Welp, I'm a dummy - I rebooted my Mac and all is well. Should have done that to start with! :p

I am running version 26 on all device except for my MacBook Pro and Mac mini. It's not as much an anti-26 sentiment (even though I don't care for it), but more that my Mac utilizes a lot of utilities. Updating macOS is much more perilous than iOS due to that so I will wait for a few release versions so developers catch up.

My server I only update the OS to the last version of the current OS before next year comes out - so I'll update it to macOS 26 just before macOS 27 comes out. All I need from that machine is uptime reliability, but I want to keep it updated for security.

I’m using 15.7.2 on my M2 MBA and 26.1 on all my other devices (iPhone, 2 iPPs, AWU). No issues and everything works well.

I’m in the minority of actually liking the UI of 26, but reluctant to move to Tahoe due to the performance and battery life hit I keep reading about vs Sequoia.

The battery life hit on my iPhone and iPads was very real and it’s not improving with time.

Took the plunge last week after all, in a short period of ‘spare time’.
I must say Tahoe is not that bad apart from a list of small annoyances.
