I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 14.3. I am in Canada if that makes a difference with the software.

Being in lockdown, at home I often have my iphone plugged in to my Pioneer mini stereo system via lightning cable and then listen to music out of the Pioneer speakers. Unless I am paying close attention, at times I cannot tell when I get a message on my iPhone as the music volume will drop lower and then go back up. Depending on the song, volume etc, sometimes I am unaware of a message coming in.

Is there any way to have a verbal announcement/speciific notification sound or otherwise that a message has been received on the iphone while it is plugged in and playing music? I have looked in settings and cannot seem to find one.

Thanks in advance

If you go to Settings > Notifications > Messages, do you have the “announce messages with Siri” turned on?

I don't have that option. My software is 14.3 and my phone settings says my software is up to date.

This feature is only available with AirPods, sadly. You could say "Hey Siri, check my messages.”

Sure if you have your phone not on silent it will play your message alert tone through the speaker over the top of what you are listening to.
