As the title states, is there some hidden setting that puts songs at the top of a playlist when being added? Currently, songs are being added at the bottom, which isn't great if I have a long playlist and I add a new song where I always have to scroll all the way down to get to it. And playing a playlist starts from the top which, without intervention, would normally be the oldest song that' was added.

I realize that you can manually edit the playlist order on the iPhone or copy the playlist order from iTunes but neither of these should be the necessary solution for this "problem".

This has been a big annoyance for at least the last couple years in iOS and I haven't seen it discussed lately. Seems like a major oversight IMHO.

Is adding to the bottom of the playlist the preferred behavior and I'm just in the minority? Is there a setting I'm missing? Or is Apple just out of their mind for thinking this is desired functionality?

Do you have iTunes on a Mac? If so open iTunes, pick a play list, then from the menu at the top open "View" > View As "Songs", clip in the "Name" header, it will then reverse sort your play list (old windows trick). Not quite the same as you asked, but close.

Yeah, I mentioned I could update the playlist order through iTunes but I don't want to have to do this each time I add a song to a playlist. As you mentioned, it's close...yet so far.

I did not know you could sort that way too but I agree the scrolling is a bit much to get to the new stuff.

There is the Up Next playlist: 3d touch a track and then "play next" to build a bottom-up playlist. Other than that, as others have mentioned, no positioning options. Same as desktop.
