What I find absolutely infuriating is that some apps (like Instagram) are not Ipad native and work only in vertical mode. Now that would be fine, but in horizontal mode (ie when you assemble a laptop from iPad Pro) the cursor on the trackpad still behaves as if it is still a vertical app. In other words, the cursor considers the iPad to be vertical when really the iPad is horizontal and becomes pretty much impossible to control.

Is there any wat to fix this?

I am afraid not. The developer will have to optimize their app.

Instagram is not meant to be used on iPads. Been moaning about this since years but Facebook just doesn’t see the benefit of making it iPad friendly, especially since almost nothing on Instagram UI is native control. They just don’t see the cost of making it optimised for iPad is justifiable. You can use their crap browser version for now on iPad.

Update: this just got fixed in IPadOS 14 Beta 4. The apps still don’t flip, but the cursor is now working as intended in all the apps.

Apple could also fix this with the option of running such apps in portrait with black bars down the side. Not pretty, but more practical.

I have always wanted to have iPhone apps that are not available in iPad form to run as slide over apps. Must not be technically possible.

For Instagram the website is a much better experience on iPad. Add to Home Screen for a Pwa style app.

The iPad has a desktop (almost) class browser experience. For apps like Amazon, Instagram, Facebook etc just use the website which is a much better experience than the apps. For games and other apps that aren’t optimized for the iPad or supposed to be run in non landscape than you’re SOL.

Web experience on Instagram is atrocious.

Sorry, we’re off topic but I’m curious. What am I missing here, are there new ways to post images and videos on Instagram via web interface that I’m not seeing or are the users who are suggesting it is a better experience just not the type to post on IG?
