So when i get an email it will be like my iPhone and pushes it to my mac mini. I know that if I open Mail, it will then alert me when I get email, but i don't want to open mail every time i boot up my mac. Any way of getting push email?

Also will Mountain lion support pages compatibility? i.e. I create some documents in my iPad will it appear on my mac automatically?

Thanks

I leave my Mini on with mail open...

I hear...chime, chime, chime... as they come in to my iPad, iPhone and Mini!

Maybe growl can do some notifying without the app open, I don't know, but you are going to have to open it to read it - so why not have it open?!

Notification Centre in Mountain Lion will do it without the app open (as I understand it). In the meantime, I don't know if it's possible. But as TraceyS/FL says, you need to have Mail open to read the message anyway, so why not just keep it open? A Growl extension will even inform you when a new message arrives...

Then upgrade to ML in the summer.

Ok... so as of now I must keep the app open to receive the mail notifications, but in ML it will be just like the iPad in which it will "push" emails without having the mail app open?
