Any way to keep safari from reloading web pages?

I don't want my web pages reloading automatically when I come back to safari after a few minutes, kind of annoying. Can't find a setting.


Any tips?

Not really a solution, but just so you know, even multitasking after jailbreak wont even fix the problem. I HATE it.

They need to fix this. It happens when you exit to the home screen and when you collect a certain amount of browser windows.

Also, it's a real problem when viewing embedded H264 files that are of a certain bit rate and length too (for example the video content at All Things D).

It's like the Quicktime player in Safari runs out of memory and forces a page refresh.

It might be a hardware limitation, the iPad doesn't have a whole lot of RAM. It is also one of my main annoyance. iPad v2.0 hopefully will have more RAM : |

Though I guess they could make things better right now by storing loaded page content in permanent memory instead of RAM...

Get atomic web for the iPad. Tabs and with app open seems to keep 3-4 tabs open without refresh without any issues.

Not quite sure how it does it yet safari doesn't.

Atomic Browser is the way to go. Tabs load in the background, open tabs in the background, no more page refreshing issue, two finger tab switching and more. Great app.

The question is, why does Atomic Browser do so much better at memory management than Apple's own browser? That's pretty pathetic.

As for the refreshing issue, Atomic Browser still refreshes when you hit the Home button, right (well, unless you jailbreak). So that means that if you get a call or have to go to your email to get some info to copy/paste, when you come back to Atomic browser, it will have to refresh everything (albeit keep you on the same pages).

Yes it will still refresh if you hit. The home button then go back into the app. Safari for me doesn't do that if I only have 1or 2 tabs open. But will refresh just going between tabs if I have more open.
