I contend with overly sensitive hearing. In general, APP and APM are great for this because I can turn noise cancelling on and put the music volume low. But no matter what I do, the volume of the in-ear alerts when using functions such as toggling transparency mode is TOO LOUD to me. Importantly, it's *much* louder than the music I'm listening to—IOW, the alert volume has no relation whatsoever to my currenetly active music volume setting.

I have tried everything I can find. I have headphone safety set to 75db. I have ringer and alerts volume down to minimum (and change with buttons is OFF). I've changed all sounds under alerts to vibrate only (when possible). I have my Siri volume turned down all the way (by turning the volume rocker down while listening to Siri speak through the APM). I've looked through all the headphone accommodations settings, but can't find anything relevant there.

This is so confusing as it's an accessibility issue, which Apple is usually good with. But searching old threads I see I'm not the only one with this problem and it's going back to the beginning of Airpods.

Has anyone found any way to adjust this? Will resetting the APM to factory default have any effect? Did something get out of whack? It seems louder than before to me, but my ears are so sensitive that it may not be louder -- just too loud.

Nope nothing, turn off head detection and change modes when they are not on your head if you feel like it
