Really didn't think it would be this difficult but received a few invoices via emailmat work today that i needed to print over the wifi printer and ended up being embarrassed by having to tell someone my iPad couldn't print the attachments and ask them to let me forward them so they could print them for me  Is there an app in the store that will let me print emails and attachments from my iPad?

Downloaded this today, didn't work, wasted 7 bucks... You have to install a "helper" app onto the computer you are printing from so it's worthless for connecting to the wireless printer at work...

The limitations of this device are really starting to irk me :/

You don't have a single computer that's attached to this printer that you can install the helper app on?

What? It doesn't "just work"?

You can use Air Sharing HD to print, as long as you can set up printer sharing on a Mac or Linux computer on the same network. Not sure why it won't work with Windows...

Still waiting for a good answer to the print dilemma.

I've looked, but haven't found anything on this...has anyone considered trying something with internet printing protocol? I know that my Brother printers can use a Pop3 e-mail address to download and print documents that are sent in a certain way. I think that the sender breaks down the printed document into some type of file and sends it as an attachment. I don't know if any other brand has this capability.

Somebody who didn't drop out of computer science in college, unlike me, might possibly figure out how to write a program that sends out those special e-mails with iPad/iPhone.

If the attachment is a photo, and your printer is a Canon with Wifi built-in, then look for Canon EasyPhoto Print. Should be free.

Otherwise good luck. The iPad doesn't have ubiquitous printing like your desktop.

Another option...

Email yourself the file - to the computer where you can normally print from.

Connect to it via a Remote Desktop App (like LogMeIn).

Then print from the computer connected to the network printer like you normally would... controlling it all from the iPad.

.....

Also, a quick Google search turned up this article... I haven't tried any of the apps, but you might want to check them out...

Nope, only way would be to take my laptop to work connect it to the wireless printer then install this program on the laptop so I could print from the iPad but that kind of defeats the purpose as if I have my laptop with me I will just use that to print from and leave the iPad at home. Don't want to carry two devices with me every where I go.

This is only one of the reasons I didn't see any reason to own a 3G iPad. The iPad for me is a "portable" device inside my home. It can easily be carried from the office to the media room, to the kitchen, to the bedroom, and yes even the bathroom. And in that role it's excellent. Instant on, simple to use, lots of content. Apps like Fax, Print, Share allow me to send stuff to my network printer with no problem. If an enterprise wanted to adopt iPads, a print App would work fine there too.

Wandering around the world outside my four walls, the iPad is a little more questionable. First you'd need another data plan. And then, you never know what device you'd be trying to interface with. How many print drivers do you want on your portable device with limited storage? That's the reason Apple wisely chose to keep that stuff off the iPad. Not to mention the iPhone is a much more portable device that can do a lot of what the iPad can do. Maybe not as well but it's much smaller and lighter. I just can't see myself carting an iPad to a restaurant or mall or a movie.

Eprint has a free version that will let you test your printing over wifi
Regular app is $3. I've only just tried the free version but it worked with my epson710
