Why would Apple not have fixed this by now. Trying to push incompatible software from their environment that is fully in their control should be simple one would think. I would also like to know how to stop Apple sending notifications to install incompatible software.

The nuclear option of just trashing the Garageband.app works FWIW.

I'm close to tempted to do exactly that. I'm not ready to take my 2020 MBA to Big Sur now because of waiting on other software not compatible with Big Sur... so yeah the reminder's getting to be a pain and I'm not using GarageBand on that laptop anyway. Just seeing the two badges pop up when I unhide the dock --one on sys prefs for Big Sur and the other for GB on the app store -- is almost enough to make me remove those two items from the dock temporarily.

I wish we could do the same for system preferences, Mojave never showed the red number 1 because I didn’t update to the latest OS but catalina is.
