I'm on Ventura, and I've been using Firefox for quite a while now, but I wanted to give Safari another whirl. Thing is, Safari always has this one-second initial delay before it starts loading a web page. Firefox/Chrome/Brave have no such delay. This is on a fresh start with Safari—all caches/cookies/settings factory reset.

So Firefox is still much faster. Anyone know what causes that initial lag and how to get rid of it? I'm not using VPNs or Private Relay or proxies or anything that should be inducing a moment of thought before actually drawing in a page.

I don't see any delay on Safari on an M1 Air with Ventura. Clicking on a link opens the window and it downloads immediately.

Mine always lags on "cold start" when first visiting a site. Almost every single time. Same system.
