Is there a way on ATV to restrict or block some movies from being included in the library? I'm trying to find a way to get twice the mileage out of mine so that the kids only see their movies. They don't need to see Basic Instinct on there right next to Beauty and the Beast. I know, I know, that sounds really prudish doesn't it? Well, I came in the other day and Wanted was on instead of Wall*E and my 4 year old just doesn't need to see Wanted yet. Maybe in a few years but not now. It's amazing how they'll just start watching anything once they've pressed that button.

Just use MetaX to tag the content with an R rating, and then turn on parental controls on the Apple TV - works like a charm (I've done it myself for some of the movies we don't want the kids watching).

Cheers, Colin.

Awesome! Just got done trying this out and it works perfectly! Thank you! I had no idea MetaX even existed. This should be something Apple includes in iTunes itself in my opinion. Anyway, thank you very much!

I don't know how many movies you have, but another way of going about it is to use the "genre" tag. I split the movies between the "Kids Movies" genre, and the "Grown Up Movies" genre. Then as long as they are browsing inside their own section, they can pick any movie they want to watch. My oldest is 4 as well, and she won't really mess with any of the other buttons, just scroll up and down the list and pick a movie. So I don't worry about blocking her because she'll purposfully try and watch something she shouldn't, but rather so that she won't hit something on accident that she shouldn't.

If you're worried about loosing the original genre of the movie, what I've done is use the "Show" field under the Video tab. If I make the show something like "Action/Adventure", then everything I give that label to will be grouped together. Sort of like a sub genre option.
