I use my iPhone for work and have a couple of hundred company contacts. I don't know or remember all their names. I need to be able to find by company or name (first or last) like I can in Outlook 07.

You have too many contacts. If you delete some they will be easier to find.

For me, when I begin a SMS/E-mail message I can type "D" and a list of contacts beginning with "D" show up. If your searching for a specific person this should work. I can't see why you would search for something you are positive of (this would lead to browsing). The little "+" in a message brings up the contacts list.

If you're just going straight to contacts, I don't know since I don't have mine near me right now. :p

This works for names but doesn't help for company names field.
