Any way to sync OSX Firefox bookmarks to iCloud?

Is there any tool or utility to automatically sync my firefox browser bookmarks to iCloud so they end up synced to my iOS devices? I don't use Safari on my OSX machines because I have too many Firefox plugins / extension that I rely on.

I use xmarks to sync between multiple machines running Firefox. There technically is an xmarks for Safari but apparently it doesn't work. I never get newly added bookmarks showing up on my iOS devices. Possibly because I never launch Safari on my Macs so maybe it never syncs to the cloud? I know I have Safari checked on in ally my iCloud settings on various devices.

It irritates me that there is a utility to sync bookmarks to iCloud for Windows but apparently not for OSX unless someone can point me to one.

I use the Bookmacster software to sync Safari (and subsequently iCloud / iOS) and Chrome. Highly recommended.

It exists but you can't download it since Mozilla says it causes crashing. Apple hasn't updated the add-on since then so it's not available on Windows with Firefox (since May 2016)

So its now 2018 and there still isn't a viable solution here and Xmarks announced they are shutting down in May. I tried Bookmacster and IMO it sucked, bad. I just want to use Firefox on the desktop but have my bookmarks updated to Safari on my iPhone. I don't want to run Firefox on my iPhone because Apple doesn't allow you to change the default browser and I don't want one browser experience when I open Firefox and a different browser experience when I click a link in an app and it opens in Safari.

I still don't understand why Apple allows Windows users to download an iCloud app and sync IE, Firefox, or Chrome bookmarks to their iPhone but OSX users are forced to either use Safari on the desktop or they are SOL.

This is a continual pain in the arse for me too.

I would much rather use Chrome than Safari on macOS but am basically forced to use Safari if I want to take advantage of iCloud bookmarks to sync with my iPhone and iPad.

It is infuriating since Apple went out their way to make an extension for Windows which works perfectly well. It is exactly this kind of stubbornness regarding their closed ecosystem and forcing users to do what they want you to do rather than giving options that has made me fall out of love with Apple.

What makes you think sync via an account you setup with FF is different from iCloud sync?

Under the guise of security and iteroperability, Apple is not an Open System (although arguably the quality is better than the competition). They only support Firefox and Chrome on Windows because Safari does not run on Windows. User data tracking on browsers is a very lucrative market. How else you be able to enjoy all of the irrelevant ads that pop up in your browser.

Xmarks worked well most of the time but evidently x-browser interoperability is not so lucrative. If I were a maketeer for a browser developer, I would want to know why users choose each browser for each type of site, download, transactions, etc. Then I could improve the functionality of my browser. This type of information could easily be extracted from an app like Xmarks that syncs in the cloud.
