any word on firmware updates?

has anyone heard any news on firmware updates for the iphone latley? the latest one i've heard of is 3.1.2, and with the new iphone hopefully coming out in June/July, there's talks of an entirely NEW OS going to be put on that......

the reason i'm asking is because i'm planning on buying a 3gs on Monday, and i want to jailbreak it....but i REALLY don't want a tethered jailbreak....and i figure if dev-team hasn't made any improvlents with 3.1.2, they might be just waiting for a newer firmware to come out to mess with, instead of 3.1.2.....

I'll just speculate that there might be an OS update at the same time of the Jan announcement. That's if the rumored tablet is introduced and runs some version of a similar OS

I agree. I'm guessing a new OS version (3.2?) will be at least annouced around that time. Then maybe another update in April, with July bringing out the new iPhone and new OS (4.0).

version 6.6.6 is the next update coming out! seems we can't go a month or two before the update screamers come to life. I'm Jailbroken so no rush for me!
