Hi All:

I did some searches, particularly the compatibility list of flashed cards:

http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,371.0.html

I didn't see that anyone got these cards to work. Sorry if I missed an obvious spot.

Anyway, has anyone gotten ANY 5 or 6 port (e.g., eyefinity) cards working in ANY mac pro? More specifically, gotten the card to work and support all/most of the ports?

I have a 2006 Mac Pro and the new 12 core model. I'd love to get this single slot 5770 working (or any 5/6 port single slot card) working:

Thanks for any help or pointers!

problem is not card, problem is that the amount of drivers supporitng Eyefinity in OSX are:

#0.

Eyefinity, or support for more than 3 monitors off of the same card? As I understood it, Eyefinity was just the tech to merge the multiple displays into one coherent output as far as the OS was concerned.

Thanks, it doesn't have to be eyefinity. Actually, even a 3-port card that supports 3 30" displays in a single-wide card length would be of value.

I'm trying to cram as many displays in a single Mac Pro as possible. I think the best you can do is a double-wide 3-port card in the primary slot, and then some older 120 2-port cards in the remaining cards.

Thanks for any insight.

How many monitors do you actually want? You can probably add 3/4 5770s (assuming youw ant to use all your slots) as they're reasonably low power. Cheaper than the 6 port cards, too.

You can't have more than 2 Apple 5770's in the Mac Pro. That's why the OP asked for third party single slot cards.

Allegedly you can do it (on the 5770) with active Mini-DP > DVI adaptors, or presumably Mini-DP - DP on a non-apple monitor.

You can. The brand has nothing to do with the type of adapters, though. For 30" displays you need a DP - DualLink DVI adapter ($100), which is always active.

Exactly. I'm looking to stuff as many display ports as possible in a single box. Right now I think that means you can stuff a 3-port 5x70 card variation in the first slot, and 3 2-port 120 cards in the remaining slots.

So it would be great to hear of any non-apple single slot 5x70 cards that have 3-ports or more (ideally, that someone has successfully flashed and gotten all 3 ports to drive 30" displays).

Thanks for any pointers.

I'm pretty sure that the firmware that is flashed for the 5770 is built for a certain number of ports. I don't know the internals of the firmware, but I'm pretty sure the Mac firmware we have now maxes at the 3 ports that are on the shipping 5770.

Do you know of any other single slot 5770's with 3 ports where the flash has worked? Thanks.

There is a flashing thread somewhere around here full of cards. I don't flash cards, so I'm not going to suggest anything. :)

I rooted around there a bit and didn't see one.

The above 2 cards seem close to the reference design, although my guess is the HD-577x-Z5F3 has a better shot at working. Although if both are off reference, I wonder if the eyefinity version may also work, but where only 3 of the 5 ports work...
