Hi everyone,

I was searching the web for a working application that is able to adjust fan speeds on the unibody MacBook Pro.
Nothing is even remotely working so far, because none of the apps recognizes the fans. GPU-Z can at least tell me how hot the MBP is getting. While gaming, this is really awkward that the fans start speeding up that late.

Just to give you an idea:
Initially, the GPU gets up to 84 degrees Celsius, then the fans start doing their job and the temperature stays roughly at 72 degrees.
I simply want them to start working a bit earlier.

I expect you already know that you have to set the fan speed in mac osx then restart into windows, the speed settings stick that way.

I've used InputRemapper to control the fan speeds:

This seems to work in XP and Vista, but it didn't function all that well running as a service in Windows 7 (it runs fine as an application). The plus side to it is you can boot up cold into Windows, and you can adjust the speed settings in there.

The problem with this app is that the fan-control functionality is embedded into the keyboard-remapping stuff, so you have to use both. It's also kind of clunky...but I live with it so I don't cook my Macbook Pro.

Other than this gizmo, it's the only app I've seen out there that addresses this problem.

If anyone else knows of another (better) app, then let us know.
