or whatever it’s going to be called. The XR version of the new one. I’m one of those who used to upgrade every year but stopped that last year. I realized that I don’t really use my phone for anything more than texting, social media and pictures, and that I would be perfectly happy with a XR or whatever the updated version is. Now, I’m waiting for the announcement to see if the 11 has anything groundbreaking, but if not, definitely going to save some money and get that version. Anyone in the same boat?

Still own X but when I get my next iPhone will go for the bigger phone, not this year but next year. Will however, be dependant upon it having USB C port and not lightning.

I made leap x to xr because of shiny new thing, color, battery life , better cam+proc, and screen size and lack of pwm

Sometimes I miss x comfort wise but I think overall the scaling of this phone (just like max) outweighs it

Repulsed by the $1000 (Almost $1100 after taxes) price model

Even my x I got on contract for $550 at the time

See the only thing is that the XR is a bit bigger than I’m used to, but features wise it seems perfect. Is there a noticeable difference on how it feels in the hand?

It’s definitely a little clunkier

My best recommendation is try it out at the store

It feels like it fits right in between 8/x and plus.

In the beginning, the iPhone hardware improved by leaps & bounds every year because there was soooo much room for improvement everywhere. But lately the annual improvements have been marginal because they're running up against a wall- so there's been little incentive for users to upgade (add to that the super expensive prices)

The 6.1 versus the 5.8 overall sizes are not comparable. I’d imagine the weight/thickness and overall heft of the 6.1 XR would immediately turn off any 5.8 user, just because it is that much different. Unless someone really wanted a larger display, that would really be the only reason why someone would migrate to the XR.

I tried the XR when I upgraded a parent's phone to my XS Max. Went back to the X. OLED was too good and the XR resolution is adequate for most cases but noticeably worse.

The only reason I went for the X instead of Xr was the ability to take portrait photos of non-humans. If the new R has multiple lenses I don't see any reason to not buy a cheaper model instead of the X.

I have an XS and if the new model has the second lens, plus the rumored purple color, I’ll be upgrading to it. I have had terrible service with this phone sis XR launch. Plus I want a slightly bigger phone but not Max size.

I tried out the Xr at the Apple Store after it launched and thought it was too bulky compared to the X.

The X / XS feels good in the hand, the Xr did / does not feel as good. I also like the dual camera in the X / XS and OLED screens. Not sure I would go for a new version of the Xr if the new flagships have better cameras etc and still easier to hold.

As an iPhone X user if the 11 has more upgrades than the camera I might buy it right away. I fits just a camera upgrade I’d probably stick with the X for a little longer.

If the 11 gets usb C I will consider it. Everything I have minus my phone uses it now or micro USB ( power bank ). My headphones use them ( Sony WF-1000XM3 and Jaybird Vista) and my iPad has it.

I don’t think USB-C will be proprietary for the iPhone for 2019, I’m thinking if anything, they might include an adapter, but 2020 should be the switch.

R is too big for me. I'd prefer one the physical size of the iPhone 8, with the bezelless design of the X

Nope. Paid off my X this month and I’m waiting on 2020 iPhones when USB-C, 5G, back to Qualcomm modems and the 1st 5nm CPU finally. :apple:

In the mean time I’ll enjoy the value I’m getting from the X still until then. :D

It won’t be an “R” version either, it’ll be the “Pro”.
