I've seen a number of threads where people changed their minds and where once they were critical and/or didn't like it are now on board and looking to purchase the iPad.

Anyone go the other way - deciding now not to buy one when initially you were going too.

If so what changed your mind.

I honestly don't see what details could have changed people's minds. Since the keynote nothing has changed. Some people are only buying it if it comes out with a camera when pre-orders start this Friday. This has never been mentioned, promised, or shown so I wouldn't hold my breath. Pure speculation on people's part.

i do see one thing though. Some people have opted not to buy it because for some reason they were under the impression that this was a desktop replacement. At no point in time was this geared or meant to replace either a laptop or desktop. Its a tablet as has been since day one.

your question is premature.

why do I say that?

because the iPad hasn't even hit store shelves yet. there will be plenty of people who originally stated they don't want one, but upon seeing it in person, may be so overcome with desire that they whip out their credit card faster than I can say "the iPad doesn't do Flash or multitasking". :)

Wait - the iPad doesn't do flash or multitasking?!

Some people make quick visceral decisions, and then once they learn more about something, they change their minds.

I have seen those too but didn't count them as you pointed out "Visceral", they are like

-----> :eek::eek::eek::eek:OMG NEW STUFFZ, I MUST HAZ!!!!:eek::eek::eek:<-----

Wait - the iPad doesn't do flash or multitasking?!

LOL! ah, but here is what steve claimed during the unveiling...

10:11AM "So, gonna give you a little overview. It's very thin -- you can change the homescreen to whatever you want. What this device does is extraordinary. You can browse the web with it. It's the best web experience you've ever had."

Is this one of the "couple" of threads you post in?

Fellow, let it rest. You seem to take it so personally if -- God forbid -- someone might be intrigued at the thought of buying an iPad.

I don't know if I'll buy one yet, but I won't hit you up for the money if I do. Relax.

The only reason i might buy one is because of how messed up i have realized apple is lately. But even then, i dunno if i wanna wait for the hp slate, or buy an ipad then sell it if the slate is any good.

and u seem to take MY postings personally. give it a rest.

At some point of you should really just decide not to respond or ignore the other person.

The back and forth is a waste of everyone's time and energy :)

I planned on getting one before the keynote... during the presentation is when I realized that it offered very little that was useful to me as an owner of an iPhone and MBP. I was sold on the fan-made mockups and imaginary specs so it was tough to hear that the iPad was a different product altogether.

My wife, however, fully expects to get one this spring, so I consider myself lucky. I don't have to try to justify $500 for something I don't honestly need, but I'll get to play with one to satisfy my curiosity.

I honestly can 't consider other alternatives to an iPad other then an Android tablet. Windows does not belong on a tablet. IMHO

I think people are not just going off what the see on tv and in blogs and when they watch the keynote they will be like wow this is good. you have a bunch of apple haters comeing to apple sites and bashing the ipad because they hate apple and don't want people to use the products.

I disagree even though I didn't understand the 1st half of your post. But in regards to the second half - just because someone doesn't care for the iPad or is critical doesn't make them a hater. How would you like to be relegated to fanboi/apple apologist/etc every time you post something positive about apple or the iPad.

People need to stop labeling people and just discuss things without namecalling

I was originally going to get one but now I have decided to wait for version 2.

Are you sure you can wait that long? A year is a very long time, and against that time you can sell it for a nice price. Can't you?

I don't get this post. If someone says they're waiting for Gen 2 - why is that so hard to accept. Why are you trying to convince him other than just accept their decision. You don't need him to buy one for you to feel better, do you?

Mind boggling.

I have flirted with the idea of not getting an iPad, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the iPad itself. I think it is a great device and will be a big success. But I have a situation where I need a portable device (whether iPad or laptop) and at the same time my wife's computer is very old and could go bye-bye at any time. Before the iPad was announced I had planned on buying a laptop and letting her have my Mac mini. But then the iPad was announced and I'm just afraid if I go the laptop way I'm really going to regret not getting the iPad. So I'm just sitting on the fence right now waiting for the iPad to come out and to see if I could rely on it to be my main computing device, synched occasionally with my old mini.
