I'm consideing ordering my 16" MacBook Pro from Expercom (Heard about them from 9to5) and I was wondering if anyone on here had any experiences with them. It looks pretty trustworthy but that's a lot of money to lose... Anybody ordered or preordered a Mac from them before?

It doesn't seem too much different from Adorama or B&H. People buy things with no intention of keeping it and we've all seen threads where someone will exchange an item half a dozen times. You can't tolerate that if you're giving a discount. As long as you're sure you're buying what you want I don't see a problem.

Right my benchmark is Apple.com. I was curious because their base prices where low but for a reason. There ain’t such a thing as free lunch - always a catch.

Apple is your best bet if you're not sure. Right now they're on extended holiday returns and you can get a refund or exchange up until Jan 8th I believe. I know exactly what I want and ordered one from expercom yesterday. I've never ordered from them before but have gotten my last two MBP's from Adorama. I never had any issues with them so I don't know what kind of hassle that would have been but I also have an Apple store close by. I'd think that if I got a problem Apple would take care of it and being this early they'd almost have to give you a new one vs something refurbished. I've personally never had an issue with a MBP out of the box.

And I’m 100% sure of what I’m buying. I never exchange items unless they’re defective.

until you lose the apple screen lottery or something where its a defect to you but not to them and you have to fight them. good luck, hope it works out.

Nope. I know it was Nov 14 last year, but it may have been a pilot program as I don't see their return policy page reflect this for 2019 yet... I wish it did tho :) I am waiting for that to our the trigger myself.

extended holiday returns have not started yet at Apple AFAIK

I called them twice this week. First they modified my configuration and then I requested they cancel my order, which they did without issue. Both of the people I spoke to were polite and professional.

I've been considering Expercom because I could save about $100.00 on an MBA + Applecare. The return policy says:

"Returns are accepted within 30 days of your date of purchase. If the item is not in new, resell-able condition with all original packaging and accessories it may be ineligible for return or may be subject to a restocking fee."

It doesn't mention a general restocking fee.

But now you've got me nervous and for peace of mind I think I'll ditch the savings and order from Apple.

Their return policy sucks, but it is a legit website. if your are sure what you're buying, you could save big.
