I was checking these out on Radtechs site. It looks like a great mobile solution for raising the my soon to arrive (hopefully) Macbook up.

https://www.radtech.us/Products/coolfeet.aspx

Anyone have them? I see people in the coffee shop all the time with these huge things to raise the notebook up. I want something that fits in my bag without taking up a lot of room. This looks like it is it.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't waste your battery on a active solution.

USB wastes power, and with a laptop running on battery you want to save all the power you can just in case you need it.

If you really want it these cool feet are just as good as anything else to raise your MB or MBP off a table. I would like to see it a little more adjustable but they are ok.

Also like you say. You don't want to carry around something big. Cooling mats are just too big.

On a second look, I don't like how you have to stick something to the bottom of your laptop to make them stick. The little round stickers just don't do it for me. I wouldn't use them at all.

What stickers? They are suction based. You push them on, and pop them off. Pretty simple.

I don't need an active solution. It is just to keep my laptop a tad cooler when in use on a flat surface for a long time. Like extended hours in a coffee shop.

I think they are pretty nifty. And I surely don't want to carry around something the size of a book that has a fan and that I need to plug into the laptop. This is a much simpler and much more portable solution. IMO of course.

They are semi adjustable. You can use the small feet in the front or not. You can use the big feet or small feet in the back. Prettyy adjustable to me. Besides they are suction cups. You can't expect every height level to be covered.

.43" in the front and .86" in the back. Or just .43 in the back.

Sounds like they are pretty tiny then.

I use Cool Feet

Just to let you know that I use cool feet on my mbp and they don't really do anything to cool the computer but the angle of the keyboard is nice. as for the sticky pads they seem like they will come off. Hope that helps

I see the stickies now. That is only for rough surfaces like the MBP and the black MB or other notebook where they won't stick. My guess is the white one doesnt need them. Which is what I would get.

whats the point in these anyway? the only time my macbook pro gets very hot is when i use it in bed on my duvet for an extended amount of time or when i am pushing it. Are some small feet gonna make a big difference maybe 1-2c tops?

just get smcfancontrol for free

i am pretty sure that all of the three surfaces you have mentioned are completely flat there is especially no difference between the white and black macbooks. i dont envisage them being nessesary, however they probably are as they are included.

I was going to make a joke about getting cold feet once, but I couldn't think of anything interesting :p

Staying OT, every laptop I've used saw the benefits of being raised a bit. And the nice angle on the keyboard is a plus :)

The glossyness of the white Macbook may produce a better stick for the suction cups.

It is harder to stick a suction cup to a book than it is to glass...

i'm still unconvinced as the surface is still essentially the same but with a different finish.

i would think about how much you actually need these, unless you actually find your macbook overheating something like this is only going to make it more cumbersome, as the kind of use you have described is what the macbooks were designed for. I am always amazed how effective the fans are also, a 30sec ramp at full blast will reduce my cpu by as much as 10c.
maybe i'm missing something but i fail to see the point in these unless your machine is operating out of spec, in which case you should get it repaired.

A book placed under the computer's rear edge can prop it up at an angle and do the same job as these plastic feet. You can even adjust the angle be adjusting how much of the book is under the computer.

If you don't have a book a small block of wood might do.

Yeah I will carry a block of wood to the coffee shop with me.... Thanks a ton...

And exactly kelly, the finish is different. A book and glass could both me flat, but I guarantee it will stick to the glass and not the book. The glossiness of the white Macbook would allow the suctions cups to stick better.

And how can say the surface is the same when the finishes are different? The finish would be the surface...

Regardless of cooling it also raises the notebook for more comfortable typing and with more class than a book or block of wood

They would take up less room in say a incase sleeve bag that has limited space for such things.

All I wanted to know is if anyone had them. I didn't say I was buying them. I didn't say I needed them. It was simply a thought. I know that I do not want a huge plastic chunk with fans in it, a book, or a block of wood or any other ridiculous crap.

If you have them, make a comment and tell me if you like them. If i buy them I will post a review.

Erasers? :)

Why not use two small erasers? :D They've worked really well for me so far. My MacBook has been noticeably cooler :p

I don't even know if i need them. It was just a thought. I don't even have a Macbook yet mine was stolen in the mail.
