Other Anybody have experience switching carriers and pre-ordering?

I plan on switching from ATT to Verizon when the xr comes out. How does a pre order work when you are still under a different carrier. You dont cancel your service till the other phone comes in and you port your number?
Ill be getting an xs max and xr when you can order them and switching at the same time.

That is exactly how it works. Verizon will ask you if you are wanting new numbers or porting in when you preorder. Once you get the phone, activate and the port is finish, you cancel ATT

You setup new service and they will port your numbers to them once you activate the phones. Once that is done your old carrier has been notified of the switch. That cancels your account
