Personally not convinced but that's no comment on anyone who does like them. On a related note I'm looking forward to seeing what the larger iMacs look like (as and when they arrive!) Wonder if they'll keep the same colour scheme as the 24" ones or (as seems more likely) adopt the current grey / black bezel style. Wondering the same about any new MBP 16" too

I don't regard ANY opinion regarding the design of a product to be worth the breath that was wasted on it. It's just totally personal, and in some instances, deliberately provocative - in the same way that trolls are.

Thus, the fact that as far as I can see from pictures rather than the actual object, I like the design of the new iMac ought to be totally immaterial to anyone else. However, I do like it, and I have bought one. For me, the issue of bezels is a nonsense because when I'm using my current 27-inch iMac (which has black bezels), I'm looking at the screen, not the surround.

I would rather try knitting mud than trawl macrumors.com for subjective opinions.

yes: looking forward to my delivery
Yes, ditto - looking forward to the new generation Mac!

My second M1 device:

I like it and would order in silver if there was a small step up in the processor.

I know the M1 is going to much faster than what I currently have.....

So you don't have the M1, but you want something better than the best processor Apple has ever put into a Mac? I don't get you people.

That's like, yeah i don't have a car, but would order one, but only if it had a faster engine than any car around at the time.

That's a weird way of thinking.

And to answer the opening post: i very much like the design. The bezels needed to grow on me, but they did, and i am sure the blue iMac will look perfectly fine in my living room.

I keep my computers for 7 to 10 years. So wanting a little better processor is important to me. My 2010 iMac is still serving me well in 2021 and waiting for more of what I want isn't an issue right now.

I am not doubting that the M1 is good.

I think the new iMac is a home-run for the target audience, which is the average person or reception desk in an office. Future iMac's will have larger screens, and improved processors and that's what many MacRumour folks will be waiting for but it doesn't negate the benefits of the new iMac's.

I recently replaced both my desktop plus my wife's with a pair of M1 Mac Mini's, knowing that these were the first low-end systems using the new Apple Silicon processors. They are still considerably better than the systems we were using. I am 100% confident that faster systems with more memory and GPU cores will be released in the next year, and that's a great thing for all of us! The negative whining about the performance and aesthetics of the bezel are hilarious - if this isn't the perfect system for you, wait until the next release and see if that's closer to what you want. Just because you don't like the bezel, or some other factor does not mean these systems aren't perfect for many others.

...oh, and yes, I DO like them!

I personally think they're beautiful. If they were 32", I'd likely be purchasing an orange one. Maybe even a yellow one.

I was initially a little bothered by the light gray bezel, but after looking at the videos, I found that I really like the way the screen appears to be floating a little in front of the machine. Kind of a neat little side-effect of the lighter bezel, if it does in fact look like that in person. I also kinda dig the somewhat retro-futuristic look to it.

Hopefully these colors make their way over to the MBA.

I’d rather have two monitors that match. Also I already have an iPad and a nice stand. I’ll probably go for a M2 MacBook and a monitor. Patience is a virtue.

The chin doesn’t bother me that much, but I would have kept the apple logo on it, it looks a little weird and empty.

Overall, the design langage is much more attractive than the 10 years old previous design. But for me, the white bezels is a huge dealbreaker, and a huge design mistake. It would have been much better with the same colors but black bezels.

In general, here on forums , people come to complain in general, about design, issues they have with their devices and so on. But the imac will bring colors into the world and i bet others will follow this trend. Hope after the ipad airs, iphones and imacs, the next macbook air will come also in colors
It will become the best sold AIO

This new iMac will largely not appeal to the vocal members who signed up for this forum.

It will sell very well with the 99.99% who have never heard of MacRumors.com.

At the end of the day Apple will want to cater to customers who will actually buy it rather than pretend they can.

I look forward to a larger than 27" model in space grey or other outrageous colors.

My desired I/O for any Mac with Apple Silicon
  • 3.5mm headphone
  • CompactFlash or CFexpress card slot (I use these devices)
  • At least two 10Gbps USB-A/USB3 ports
  • At least two 40Gbps USB-C/USB4/TB4 ports
  • At least a 1Gb Ethernet port or faster on the body or power adapter
  • HDMI 2.1 port for Mac notebooks & Mac mini

strongly disagree: same colours with black bezel wouldn't work at all for me

I like the look of them - even the white bezel. The lack of a logo was an odd choice, but especially if placed on a desk where the back of the machine is visible, I think they're attractive.

That said, it's not a machine for me. Since the performance is roughly the same, I'd rather have an Air and hang a 24" external monitor off it. But I'm also not the target demographic.

Not sure where I fall in terms of Apple‘s demographic. I am not entry level or high end level but somewhere in the middle.

Based on that, I would suggest a 10 Gb ethernet port for you. Apple has included them before on the iMac Pro & Mac minis. Plus, with the CompactFlash, etc., sounds like you'll probably need the extra bandwidth if you use a NAS
