I almost get done with activation and then it tells me to go to an ATT store to get a pre approved code. I am porting from Verizon. Anybody in the same boat? If so, have you obtained a code?

They give you that when you get your credit checked at the AT&T store.

If you went through the approval process on iTunes first, and it is telling you that, AT&T most likely wants you to pay a deposit.

I use a debit card, I have never used a credit card therefore have no credit. I was never informed that I needed to have credit to use ATT

What approval process on itunes?

I used my debit card to buy 2 phones. I wasn't checked for credit (perhaps I was... I was an existing ATT customer). Hmm, I also don't recall being prompted for my SSN at iTunes (did they ask for that info when registering?).

I am experiencing the same issue...Got a BAN # but got email to visit store...called the store today and they said when you place a deposit there is an extra step to joint the account to the deposit...until they join them you account shows as "Suspended" until the suspension is removed you cannot activate.

IF you are an existing ATT customer you had your credit checked when you first established service.

Only people establishing NEW service with ATT as their provider, will need to have their credit checked.

You don't have to get the pre aproval code, you can check it inside of itunes when you register, just leave that field blank.
