I made the switch from iPhone to android last year and hated every minute of it.

The OS was clunky, bug prone, crashed every 5 seconds. The scrolling felt weird and forced, not smooth and slick. App Store literally blows the Android Market away, and didn't like that my phone was out of date within 2 months.

Needless to say im using an Iphone 4S now.

Same with tablets. The ipad is the only tablet i've seen that actually works. I haven't played around on very many but so far the ipad seems to be the only one that works, like I just said.

As far as computers go I simply prefer the mac osx after working with it for 5 months. I do wish there was a bit more power under the hood for the price I pay but the trade offs are worth it IMO.

I'm not even really an apple fanboy, if what you got works for you then fine, and i'll admit in areas where apple falls short. I just prefer apple products.

If you want an OS with a bit more power under the hood you could run a Linux distribution of some description. ;)

To be honest I don't notice much difference between my £300 5 year old Windows XP laptop and my £1000 2011 iMac. It just looks prettier. Seriously. I like Macs, but anyone who thinks their vastly superior to Windows (and visa versa) are just lying to themselves. It's just a computer at the end of the day.

How does Google keep on having the biggest market share numbers with a phone OS that crashes every 5 seconds ?

Because the general public is cash rich and doesn't know any better, just like we want them.

I'm an Apple Realist. I have many devices and services from both Apple and others. In some cases, Apple fails, and in others, Apple wins. I prefer what works best, which is sometimes Apple, and sometimes not Apple.

I think that globally adopting one platform in favor of all options tends to lead to narrow-mindedness and a lack of rationality.

No, we're all fanboys. That's the only reason anybody ever buys anything from Apple; you join the cult, worship the corporation, and then start buying the stuff to support the cause.

I mean, what kind of crazy person would just buy stuff they like?

I started out "generally preferring" Apple gear. Then, the more I used it, the more I "really preferred" Apple gear. LOL what exactly do you want me to tell you? Apple has *earned* the loyalty of their fan base. No one else can claim this because no one else does what Apple does and the way they do it.

A unique phenomenon will get a unique response.

Why not ask Apple's competitors why they're too slow, unimaginative and just plain lazy to pull off the same thing?

The real mystery is not the existence of ardent Apple fans. Given what Apple has offered consumers, that is NORMAL. No, the real mystery here is why it's ONLY Apple that is able to achieve this in an otherwise very large industry.

This sums up who I am as well.

i would like to think that most people here aren't fanboys and are more that they prefer apple's products. the day an apple product doesn't work for me is the day i will no longer use it. i prefer their products for the most part but i know that not all their stuff is ideal for me. something comes along that is better and equally as appealing i will use it.

Even look at an Apple product and you're labeled a "fanboi" by the Linux lovers. That's just the way it is.
After all these years I have grown so weary of them.

Same here, though I would probably disagree with your assessment of people around here. Android constantly crashes? You're doing it wrong. I've had my Android phone for 2 years, and have rarely had it crash. I have also never had Windows 7 blue screen, and the only time I saw it in XP was usually hardware related.

It's all just tools. I use Linux, Windows, and OSX on a daily basis, and all work just fine for me. So, why did I just buy a MBP? Hardware quality. About 2 years ago, I went against my better judgement bought a Dell Studio (instead of the business class machine) laptop because I didn't have the money for a Mac replacement for my Powerbook. While it worked great, it felt cheap. The left click button was loose and felt like it would break, and the display was wobbly when I tried to close it. Closing the lid on my MBP reminds me of when you shut the doors of a good luxury car. There is a nice, solid, thunk, instead of a hollow sound.

I am mostly OS agnostic, but I buy Apple stuff because nobody else makes hardware like that. Style wise and quality-wise, nobody can match them.

I prefer a product that fits my needs. Given that apple is a multibillion dollar corporation. I feel there's no need to bow down in veneration. They fit my needs when they don't I find another product that will.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I like apple products but I don't buy them blindly because there's a fruit logo on it.

I'm too much of a gamer to sacrifice my PC :(

But they do build quality products. I've recommended the iPhone 4 to lots.

I use what suits my needs. That used to include Apple devices, now it doesn't. If in future they produce something I decide is best for my needs I'd happily get it. I do like Apple, but I'm not going to stick with them if there are devices I think are better.

I really enjoy using Apple hardware and software. Saying that, I find quite a few things I don't like about Apple - like all companies, Apple have their good and bad attributes.

As long as Apple provides a good platform on which to get my stuff done, I'll continue. Should Apple not, I'll jump ship and go elsewhere. If there's something better, I'll investigate the alternative.

What phone did you use? Because my Galaxy SII is just as stable as my old iPhone. (but I completely agree with you on the App Store vs Android Market!)

But to answer your question.... I like Apple's products a lot. But I don't think they are infalliable and if there is a product that better fits my needs, I will pick it over Apple's product.

Uh ? Where did that come from ? Most Linux users I know (me being one of them) don't really care about the products other people choose to use.

I'm very easily frustrated, and Apple products generally frustrate me less than competing products. I used an Android for a while, and I really could not stand it. I'm picky about everything I buy, not just electronics. I'm very particular. I once returned a toaster oven that someone gave me as a gift because I didn't like the way the dials were, and I exchanged it for a model I liked better. :p

So I wouldn't say I'm an Apple fanboy, I'm just a quality fanboy. :p

@OP: Way to not be obsessed with Apple products just because they are Apple.

Personally, I find all Apple hardware to be top notch. But as for software, other than iOS it is just not the greatest. I love the MBP but dislike OS X. I guess I am not a fanboy

I stepped into Apple world back in 2002, I bought a iPod on a trip to NYC. I just loved the ease of use.
Since I retired and no longer needed a computer that was integrated in the companies system. I went for Apple products because straight out of the box they were what I needed.:apple:

New to Apple computers, but I've been using an iPhone for several years now. I really like the computers but it may be because the experience is new for me. A previous poster stated that he was a realist. I'm thinking I'm in a honeymoon stage.

In any event, I'm enjoying my Macs.
